Most of the year: mesh jacket with armored elbows and shoulders but not the back. I have several to match different bikes. Always full face, over ankle boots and gloves. It’s too blazing hot here in South Texas most of the time to wear leather, I wear an A stars leather jacket from about Dec-Feb until temps get up. The heat really becomes a liability in traffic and I commute.
The best piece of gear I recently bought for the money is a photochromic visor for my helmet. I think it was about $30 on Ali express and a real game changer. No sunglasses, tints in daytime clear at night. Treat yourself.
