So i have an 04 firebolt, 1200. I bought it a year ago and noticed it already had the race kit, k&n filter, and exhaust.

So now there is a head gasket leak. Glad i bought a warrenty with the bike so the locally harley shop will fix it for practically free. With them taking it apart to change the gasket i want to do some more engine work but i dont know what i can or cannot do with this race ecu..... Any thoughts?
I also want to do a straight pipe, i just feel this race exhaust is still to big.

I thought cams and port and polished head. Or maybe get a stock ECU and do some engine work and just have them tune it.

I am trying to do a search on this site but nit coming up with much. Maybe i am not typing in the right words to search.

use google to search for things like: keyword site:buellxb.com it will search only buellxb.com for the topic. It works much better than the search on here

If you start changing engine internals then there is a chance for reliability to drop!

I enjoy the bottom end. So maye a little more top end.
I just figured since work was going to be done to it anyways... Why not do more

The race pipe is a good exhaust. Its not a matter of how big it is, it is functionality. You can change to a smaller jardine and your performance will go down IMO. Straight pipe exhaust will cost you back pressure and deminish the scavaging affect on your bike also IMO. If you are wanting more speed go with the 1125. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Best perfomance bits Ive done -
Ohilins rear shock
Front fork springs
EBR brake rotor
Rider education - California Superbike School, Conerspeed, Team Pro Motion ART etc.
Once you can get it to turn really well and know what to do you can embarass the crap out of bike wiht more HP all day long.
Having said this , I bought an old CCS Thunderbike XB12 race bike that has been built to the hilt. Its fun ,but ,Im jsut waiting for it to gernade. My lap times @ VIR are a little better on it when compared to my XB9 , but ,not that different. Figure the built bike just spins all the time so Im not able to get the HP to the ground as well as on my 9.
