I just installed by D&D exhaust. The instructions were pretty much non existent. I didn't even know that the stock exhaust has some kind of butterfly with a cable. What did you guys do with that cable? I am thinking of just zip-tying it to the bike and calling it a day.

thats the best option. you can turn off the actuator with ecm spy but if you don't you will get the check engine light if you take it off.

pretty easy. Under airbox is the actuator just unplugs and a few bolts then pull the cable out.

Is that the black actuator inside of the foam padding? If that is the case, it seems simple enough.....

If you have the ebr ECM and you remove all of it, you won't throw a code. I was wondering the same thing then I installed the ebr ECM and I was fine.

I spent more time getting that damn cable out than installing the whole new exhaust. Wrap some electrical tape around the adjustment wheels on the end of the cable to help pull through the tight spots if you’re planning on removing it completely.

It is in there pretty good with patience it can be removed. I took off the top air box and bottom cover completely. This way I was able to really check out every thing in case something needed attention plus tools for later. Watch the IAT control inside the air box area.(OR) you could gently pull it up through the lower back area where it attached at the muffler then towards the shock, and tie it off. [up]

Well, I started to take the cable out and realized it is a lengthy job. So I stopped and left for work.....I might tackle it when I wake up later today.
