The lower cowl that covers the muffler on my bike completely came off after hitting a few speedbumps. I managed to get the cowl back but ive lost all of those little white plastic screws (at least i thought they were plastic) that hold it on.
Anyone know where I can find some?
Or what their exact size is so I can find them at Home Depot or something?
Thanks
Its for an XB Lightning of course

There shouldn't be any plastic screws on your bike (or maybe thats why you lost the chin spoiler), but the metal ones are kind of unique. They have a shank to them, and a button head. I've looked online to see if I could find something in bulk, but no luck. The dealer is the best bet.

The scam we run is to steal enough of those bolts from other parts of the bike when we lose them to keep the panel on the bike, and then when we take our bikes in for service they replace the missing ones for us for free. (well, "free")

hmmm. last time i changed the oil i thought they were little white plastic screws.
i guess im wrong on that, or i just have a bad memory.

thanks for the reply though. but i was hoping to avoid the dealers

1/4 or 1/2in long 1/4x20 allen head bolts and flat washers from homedepot or lowes will work....... they also have the plastic washers to protect the plastics from the metal washers. just make sure to get stainless for all the bolts, i got the black bolts and they rusted pretty quick. If you cant find them at lowes or homedepot look at a fastenal store......they should have them.

just put some loctite on the bolts so that they'll stay and you don't have to overtighten them. My last chin fairing had cracks on all the holes when I bought the bike from someone over tightening them. Home depot also sells black fiber washers that feel like they're just about the same as the clear plastic ones that were on there. They're still hard, and not actually like cloth, but they're still softer than metal.

Also, you could grab the 4 that are inside the airbox and just replace those 4 with normal bolts since they don't need the lip in them. The 2 on the front of the muffler are normal bolts too, and don't have the lip. You could steal some off of license plate bracket where the reflector is held on. Make sure you put a metal washer behind the plastic one as well if the head of the bolt is smaller than the head of the plastic washer or it'll crush it!
