I'm seeing some old threads regarding the white wire mod. Has anyone done this recently on a 09 XB9SX?

There are two options for the headlight mod.
White wire mod will give you both headlights on when high beams are on, but at the expense of the city lights when the key is in the park position.

Alternatively, you can modify the switch. This has the same result (both lights on when in high beam) but you keep the city light functionality as well.

Personally I prefer the switch mod and just did it on my 09 Scg last week.

Tasha, our ECU looks a lot different than the one he mentions in the mod. My 09 XB9SX has many more pins. However, I pulled the only white wire I could find on the grey connector. My speedo, trip meter, and odometer all quit working, followed by a check engine light. I assume this mod must be done on our bikes with an ECMspy. I sent those folks a message to see if the ECMspy cable will work on our bikes. We shall see...

What's the option that we are looking for to disbale the white wire while using ECMSpy?

thanks roberd42. I was going to play with it but wanted to read up on it some more. think i'll just leave it alone for now. keep me updated if you can.

Not sure how to use ECMspy. I dont have it yet as I dont know if it will work with my bike. I read on the white wire thread (use the search function) that it can be modified using the ECMspy without tampering with the connector.

in the newer buells the mod may not work, your ecm is much more advanced. prob for the 06 and older xb9

Well, here is the response I got from Xopti:

yes the cable is the same. it doesnt plug into the ecu it plugs into the service port the grey plug by the ecu.

you will need spreed sheets to get the fuel value locations from dave at Ohio sportbike.com though. this allows the locations to upload the values to the ecm. the only way to do the 2009 xb12 bikes and the 1125 bikes at this time. used with ecmspy.

You can simply turn if off by unchecking a box in ECMspy. You can disable the servo as well with the click of a button.
