who has a Buell they use for the track?

I want to get into some track days, but don't want to use my CR or XB for them. Who has a Buell they use for the track? Been considering lookin around for a cheap firebolt to use for the track, but keeping it street legal enough to ride out there.

but if u want a pure track bike go find like a wrecked zx6r. cheap and decent track bike

i'm with him on that. buells aren't the best bikes. but they will get you getting really good at proper lines and pushing your limit on corner speed.

With the lack of availability of spare parts, you'd have to either really not care about your bike or be stupid to do track days with it. I've been to the track with mine once, and I was going slow as balls the whole time. But I wouldn't say that I use mine for track days just because I tried it once. Find a cheap 600 or 750 with cosmetic damage and use that.

Didn't know that there was/is a problem getting parts,Plus a spare bike for Track,works OK but some want their daily rider on a track.I have used my 08- XB12R a couple times just to get to know the limits of the bike.Took a few Racing Schools for that,as I was building an 09-XB12R mostly for track. I've gotten plenty of parts for the XBs/1125s so far. I have bought two extra wrecked bikes cheaply.If people want to become a better rider maybe some Race schools and rent the bikes on hand. The bigger Schools do this at some tracks. That way you won't mess up your bike. I've been doing Track days for nearly 25 years and it's a good way to learn about inspections the handling and what the Rider needs for themselves. Most that I see on a track day have the attidude that it's some kind of Race . This is why some riders wreck on the track.I just ride my own ride on a track day and could care less what all the rest are doing.Maybe it's a Marine Corps Thing.Some like to belong to a club[cheaper] or just be aware of the Racing Schools schedules, Cause they are much more involved in making you a better rider. Yes it's expensive at times but the amount of knowledge is going to help you in the long run. Maybe just save your life.Several times in my life so far the extra knowledge has come in handy and have avoided a few maybe major problems.So many riders now are putting to much at risk in the street.The tracks are safe no cops/NO speed limits except the rider and bike.But not to worry thats adjustable .Just have fun with it, and if you are nervous thats ok It's good ole addrendlin stay level headed you won't wreck.Unless you push past you skill level. That improves with time .And for those that aren't comfortable with tracks theres the rider inhanced courses. At least be careful on the street! If you are in your car some day and looking in the mirror a bike is coming DON'T cheat, now try to guess feet per second.Most Auto drivers can't thats why we as bikers get cut off, or they pull out thinking they had the space .So be aware & Ride Safe. `Jimi-

Most stock parts arent an issue to get, they may just take longer (I waited 3 months for a Hero Blue airbox cover.) It is the aftermarket parts made by Buell (1125R fairing lowers, saddle bags, seats, etc) that are nearly irreplacable. If it didnt come on the bike in its stock form, and it was made by Buell.... you arent getting any more of them.

I took my 1125 out the first time I went on a track, and I laid it down. Luckily it was before the shutdown happened and parts were easy to come by... They are still available for the most part, but I dont want to waste 3 months of good riding weather waiting on parts.

thanks for the input guys. I am gonna keep my eyes open for a street/track bike. I'd love a 675 Daytona. Nitto, how many miles were on yours when you got it? and is is strictly a track bike or do you ride it on the street too?

You can find a track ready SV650 pretty cheap. great inexpensive track weapons.

If you can find a bike already prepped for the track you'll save a lot. Most of the time they'll have upgraded suspension.

thought about that! My first bike was an SV650S and I loved it. Really wish I Wouldn't have sold it. Great bikes.

We got lucky with out bike. Paid 5,500 for a 08 with 4800 miles with a bunch of aftermarket goodies. The bike is for track and aggressive street riding only.
