so im riding home from school yesterday rght, well it came up a freaking frog choker as in flash flooding bla bla. not my first rain rodeo bt far so im just ridign and watching traffic for dummass' adn what do i come up on at 45 mph in a down pour. a deep puddle blocking the entire highway! not enough distance to stop before i hit it so i just kept going. gto all the way up to my leg above my knees people, adn i freaking made it! not even a warning light come up like it will when water gets in a tight spot adn touches a connection. i was so shocked and impressed with my xb i forgot all about the fact i got soaked before i had a chance to put my rain suit on lol.

lol 44 veiws adn not one responce. am i the only one that did something as stupid as this and made it out clean?

Sounds like you got lucky! I wouldn't try to pull that myself...but i am glad you made it!

Haha sweet. I'v seen some uly guys on video going through some deep water.. fun stuff :)

Some of the guys are being lazy :)

You've got more balls then some of them too. I wouldn't be doin that stuff lol

Although assuming that you kept pretty decent throttle through the entire puddle and that the induction system was higher than the water you should have been fine.

My question was when that large vtwin motor hit the water, was there a lot of steam coming off the motor. I am surprised that much cold water hitting the hot block wouldn't stall it out.

12 or 9? lightning or bolt?

I did something like that once, but on a dirt bike :)

Good job keeping the rubber side down!!!

its an xb12 lightning adn yes the water was just below the air intake right at it. no i didnt get much steam that i noticed, but i was more paying attention to not letting off the throttle so nothing went in the exhaust witch was totally submerged of course. this all happened after about 20 miles of hard rian riding as is so my guess is the engine was already fairly cool temps. now i know if you cant stop in time just plow thru it, it would had gone way bad if it stalled out under water.
