wont idle until running at operating temp

First off first time posting on here. Awsome Forum!
I have a 2004 xb12s with 36000 miles on it just bought it 2 weeks ago. it was running great. started every time. i had some light surging but from all the threads ive read sounds like thats pretty normal. yesturday I took the bike up Mt. lemon altitude change of around 6000 feet. ran great the whole time. rode that night to a few bars, started and ran fine everytime. I woke up the next morning and went to start the bike, started right up then 3 sec later died, would not stay running unless i stayed on the gas until the bike was warmed up then it would idle fine. still would surge but would idle steady at 1000rpm. i read on other posts that it could take awhile to relearn the altitude so i took it on the interstate and ran 3000rpm +/- 500rpm for about 45 min. and once the bike sat for 2 hours and cooled down it would not idle until back at temp. thank you in advance for everyones help.......keep the shiny side up![confused][confused]

Sounds like an old school choke problem.

So, no codes so ECM thinks fuel enrichment circuit is just fine.

Runs fine when warm so not air filter. Same problem in afternoon so not morning dew on old wires. Not fouling plugs so they're ok.

I'm thinking manifold to head leak. Similar symptoms and no sensors to pick it up.

Hard to reach and allens on one side, 1/2 on the other. Be patient and see if you can tighten them.

It's ok, I figured, and you where right. A pain in the ass to get to but they must have vibrated loose tightened then down and idled great the surge after 2500 even got better, thanks!
