Just as the title says, ive gotton an offer from my father to trade my new 07 xb12r for a brand new v-rod. Its the only harley id buy if i did want one. I havnt ridden my buell on the street yet so im in a tight place at the moment, whats your opinions? I like the idea of a tight street bike but im worried that this is a deal i may pass up and regret. I paid 5k for my buell and i think a vrod is like 15k soooo

trade it..sell it. get 2 buells[up]

i would rather have the buell than the vrod. its a lot better bike imo. if you want something that doesnt handle and looks awful get the vrod. i mean this is a buell forum what would you expect the answer to be.

If you like going fast in a straight line, get the V-Rod. If you plan on riding twisties, keep the Buell.

It's about what kind of riding you want and what you want out of a bike.

V-Rods are dust collectors at dealers so that may also explain the trade.

The way to go. Trade with your dad, sell VRod and buy two buells, lets say lightning and 1125r.
I think I'm getting jealous already :(

Lol well the plan was i get rid of the buell cause hes afraid of it and my need for speed and get the vrod so he can ride it once a month because he already has a harley himself, so i couldnt just sell the vrod and keep the money cause he wants to pay the difference

Yes it is!

Which model V-Rod?

I had the VRSC-R, which is their "Sport-Touring" version. Had mid-mounted pegs, and the steering geometry was a little more aggressive.

On paper it had more horsepower, but it still weighed literally twice as much as a Buell (about 750lbs, if I remember right).

I traded the V-rod for my current XB12Scg... And I haven't regretted it for a second! The Buell is WAY more fun.

That being said, I like the idea of trading, selling the V-rod, then buying two Buells... However, since you said your current Buell is "unused", you might be better off just keeping the cash after you sell the V-Rod...

I traded my Road King for an 09 v rod muscle a month or so ago. Havent been able to ride it but a few miles due to the weather. I had to sell my 04 xb9 to get the house in July. Since there wer such good deals on the Buells, I bought a new 09 xb12ss 2 weeks ago for almost what I sold the 04 for! The Muscle is heavy and big, but will fly down the road smooth. The Buell is A LOT more fun to ride (imo) , but is a little less comfortable. I plan on using the v rod for riding with the lil women, and using the Buell for riding to work. It sounds like your fairly young. I think you would be happier on the Buell! Just my 2 cents!!:D

Thanks guys for the motivation, ive always wanted a buell as long as i remember, now that i have one it may be hard to let go of. I have to wait untill april to legally ride it due to rhode island ******** and license course, and i think im going to really enjoy this bike as long as my neck and wrists dont cramp up.

Sorry Charlie,The Buell is ten times a Vrod.Sounds better looks better rides better feels better and makes you smile better. When your 80 get a Vrod...

Dad doesn't want you to have sportbike cause he's afraid you'll speed right. Well I understand fathers and sons a bit. I understand Dad's concern but motorcycles are like guns its not the speed or the bullets that kill people its the idiot shooting at you. Trade with Dad sell the VROD and get two Buells so he can enjoy the feel as well. Get a Firebolt 1125CR or 1125R any combo of those.

If I knew what I could sell the VROD for, and I knew what I could get a new XB for, and the math all worked out in my favor... YES.

Like most people have said it depends on the type of riding you do. I test drove a VRod and loved the power, so for a cruiser I liked it a lot. I love my XB9 for the handling. So what would I do today, trade for the VRod. I can get another 9 or 12 a lot cheaper than a VRod.
