Headed out on a few road trips this summer and hoping to find a better navigation app for my Lumia 900. The native navigation app is great for point to point, but you can't sit at your desktop and set up 8 stops along your route. It simply takes the shortest route from point A to point B.

I looked at Garmin Street Pilot and it didn't get the greatest reviews, and at $40.00 I can nearly buy a TomTom from CostCo that gets great reviews.

Thoughts? Anyone using something that they're really happy with?

**Please don't respond with "get an iPhone or an Android". I'm not looking for a phone debate, just some suggestions on applications.

Thank you.

I think the major difference in using a phone vs an actual gps is the signal. Went on a trip last year up into the mountains using just a phone app and we lost signal quite often rendering it useless.

I'll be buying a gps for my next trip because it runs from a satellite as isn't dependent on on towers.

I guess it would depend on where you'll be riding. Might just spring for the upgrade and grab a gps?

I really don't know how this works exactly so maybe this is a dumb question;

If the phone has a GPS inside of it, does it still use cell towers for navigation? I've had an instance or two, also in the mountains, where my blue dot (me) was traveling through a grid because the map couldn't load due to lack of cell signal. Is this what you mean?

I was under the impression that some of the navigation apps loaded maps further in advance. Maybe not. CostCo has a small TomTom that has good reviews for $65 on sale from $140 so maybe this is the way to go.
