Looking to do some custom project. Changing my XB12S to a fitebolt but don't need the headlights. Just front fairing, mount bracket, n block off plates. Or race fairings. With or without holes.

J thanks. I checked thru most of all those sources. Was just checking for anyone on here who may have used stuff. Ended up buying a broken mount bracket from buellsterparts which I will get welded.

Oh sorry, thought you were trying to get them anywhere. I was thinking about that bracket myself, but I didn't know if it was cast aluminum where I could take the welder to it like I did my pegs. I remember someone once saying it might have been mag instead of aluminum. Hope it works for you.

It is magnesium. We weld Magnesium all the time in aerospace, though like Aluminium, there are weldable magnesiums and not weldable magnesiums. I'm not sure which the fairing stay is.

Thanks Firefighter. I'm guessing if it was weldable, it would probably have to be TIG and I'd have some trouble finding a suitable gasless MIG wire for it.

yea... it would have to be TIG There is no gasless mig wire for it as magnesium is quite flammable. It defiantly needs shielding gas. Mostly Argon, it's been a while since I was in the weld shop, but it seems like we ran either strait Argon, or 75/25 Argon nitrogen...

Thanks guys. My welder said he has done it before. He has several different weld machines and has been doing it for years along with racing cars motors, welding in motors and all kinds of projects. Now I just need the fairing and windscreen. Found block off plates for 35 new.
