i have an 04 xb12r lightning red with amber wheels
and am looking to do a swap to the lightning tail section and was wondering if anyone wants to have the firebolt tail on their lightning

Is it a direct swap? What I mean is....will either of us have to make any modifications to mount up our tail sections? Post pics please...I am interested in seeing if the color will be ok with my bike...

nope, it's not a direct swap...you'll have to relocate the ecm among other things.

this is not a big deal when going from 'r' to 's' but it is when going the other way around.

LeFox couldn't have said it better. The R already has the ecm in the front fairing so you don't have anything to move. Unfortunately the S has the ecm under the seat and you need to find a new place for it. Granted there is plenty of room under the R tail to put it you just have to find a place to mount it. I don't know the R guys want to do this so often. The R tail section is much nicer than the S tail section.

my lightning is an '07 with about 1300 miles. what condition is your seat, etc.? I am very interested in a trade, I am in Washington State, hoped you were closer but no big deal.

Here is a picture of my bike, e-mail me and let's work out the details. You can't tell too good from the picture angle, but the screen on the sides are stainless, I made them about a week after I got the bike to keep the leg heat under control. They work awesome and will be included with the tail. I also have all the reflectors and passenger pegs, they were removed within 20 minutes of coming home from the Dealer.

Got your e-mail, let's do it! Do you know if the passenger pegs are the same between the bikes? If they are, that would be that much less to ship.

Thanks, Matt

hey bud i sent an email back to you i guess you never got it but i am still interested and would love to trade still if your still interested

i thought the swap was easy =) only thing i need to midify is the seat because once bolted up it leaves a space between the airbox and seat so reuppolstered seat and ur good to go (this is going from s to r problem) i got all me electrical junk to fit fine look at my pics

hey guys, climber and i just did the swap, everything bolts right up,no mods or problems, looks great, and props for changing things up and thinking outside the box.[up]

I have an S, but do not understand why "R" owners like an S tail on there bike, could someone please explain?

I might consider this trade...I would like to see pics of S bikes with R tails. Thanks
