X1 grinds goin into 1st!!!!!

Hey boys and girls. Yes its me,......again... I still havent got this sucker on the road since its winter and all, plus two of my cars were down so ive been fixin them. Now, ive adjusted the clutch per all the advice ive gotten here (thank-you) and it still makes a crunch as I go into first. I readjusted the prumary chain this morning since I could hear it slapping against the cover. I did the clutch four times with the cover off and
am getting a full sweep of the clutch ramp. So it would seem that it is releasing fully, yet it grinds still. Im able to get 1st and second gear and obviously since its not moving no other gears. Is the clutch shot or is it maybe installed wrong? It wasnt hooked up when I got it so I dont know its past. The cable was out

I think its the combination of two things, cold fluid and a high idle speed. These are constant mesh gear boxes. If the gears are moving too fast the dog rings will crunch as they engage.

What is normal idle then? Mine grinds into first sometimes as well and my idle is around 1100.

Well from what Ive read 850-to 1000 or so. You can adjust when it warms up with that flexible idle screw.
