thanks

Hey I am needing a new rear shock for a 2000 x1 as well. Where exactly did you find that shock from American Torque for 250? I need a new one BAD but don't have the cash to buy one of those $500+ ones. Let me know thank you.

well it was on ebay, and i just looked and i dont see another one. but they have stuff in and out of there all the time. then i found a place out west in washington that says they can rebuild, revalve, and respring for about 600. ill find there email and post later.

$250? Good price.. I assuming its a used non-leaker. Unfortunately these shocks are prone to leaking. For the cost to have one rebuilt you could pony up and buy a Penske or Works Performance for a few hundred more. Twin Motorcycles has recently started producing a replacement as well. It looks nice but is so new I have not heard any reviews. Penske is the one people rave about.

Mine just started leaking too but still rides fine. I don't have the funds right now or I would get a Penske. I am crossing my fingers mine lasts the season.

the 2000/ 2001's x1s had a recall for the rear shock, and harley honors the recalls yet. i found this out when mine started leaking all over. i bought a used one from another 2000, and it was shorter than mine. after looking into why they were two different lenghts, i found that they were recalled and updated! Took the whole bike to harley, and had a brand new shock assembly, new mount, and new fairing bracket installed FREE

I took mine in march. I called them and they asked for the vin, and they looked it up and said yes, bring it in....they included the bill tag, the cost would have been $1,415 lol. They had to get the bike in first, and confirm it was part of the recall, and then ordered the parts once the bike was there. They had t he bike one week, but well worth it. Hopefully everyone sees this post before wasting a grand for no reason!

I wonder if they would just swap the shock out with me... They don't need to touch my baby! Thanks ill check into it.

I asked them to swap shocks with me, because i had the bike torn down anyway and shock was already off. they said they cant do that, due to liability issues. i had to put my old shock back on and take the bike there, just for them to take it back off. lol.
