We were out this weekend for a nice ride. Rode about half an hour then stopped for lunch. After lunch my friends 2007 XB12 ran like crap. Lots of stuttering and decel popping. I did a TPS reset for her but that didn't work. Was planning on checking all the lines and pulling the spark plugs. Any other thoughts on this?

Yeah, I think people underestimate the power of bad gas. I know my KLR would run like shit if I used gas from the local station. Tons of pinging and stuttering.

I told her that may be the case since she had just filled up. I guess she went out and put some octane boost in it. Draining those things is such a pain.

Check battery cables & ground connections while she's at it. Move on to plugs if it isn't the gas. Post up if she's still not running.

What Steven said is most likely the fix, although I have experienced bad gas. My bike absolutely does not like chevron.

Dave - Chevron doesn't work for you? Man, that's all I use.

Love's Truck Stop gas sucks bad though. I put a tank of that nonsense in my bike and I felt like I was a drunk girl riding a mechanical bull.

I'm a sunoco boy all the way. My dad worked there growing up, and I even pumped gas for a few summers, at the very same sunoco, with the very same owner. It's all that my bike sees, and she seems to like it.

When I was out in sturgess I remember using 85 octane. The next stop (bum f egept) the gas pumps were labeled leaded and unleaded. Didn't think too much of it. Later in the day started riding with a bigger group of guys and I thought I had major bike problems. Poping, pinging and over all running like shit. I was very worried til we hit a schell. 93 octane and she was back to kickin ass.
