I have an 08' XB12 and just mounted the Jardine muffler, (love it). I only rode it for 1/2 hour this year and the weather has been crappy for the past two weeks. During that time I would go into the garage and start it for a couple of minutes just to hear the new sound. I accidently left the park light on for a couple of hours one time so I pluged in the battery charger over noght.
Today I started it to go for a ride and its only running on the back cylinder. I was told that sometimes when on a low battery the computer dumps fuel and floods the front cylinder.
What do I do to avoid the expensive shop charges?
Will removing the front plug and cleaning it do anything?

If you started it just to hear it, then shut it off without it fully warming, there is a chance that you fouled a plug or plugs. Maybe you should replace them both to be safe.

Thank you for all the advice. It was a fouled plug. I found a post on changing plugs, (not easy), and the front plug was soaked in fuel. Gave it a wipe, stuck it back in and she started up fine. I'm diving over to the dealer to get another set of plugs to change latter.
Any advice on what kind to get?
Thanks again, great forum!

order the ngk's because they will foul again. The plugs can also be changed in less than 15minues by taking off the left air scoop for the front plug and then getting an extension and a swivel socket and sticking in in the space below the seat for the rear plug. Dont even have to take off the air cleaner.

if you start it, ride it...never start the bike for a few minutes, just to hear it.

how do you know when it only runs on one cylinder...aparently mine was last year but i dont think i noticed it.

Thanks again. It is amazing what the net has done for sports and common interests. Within an hour I had an answer and my problem solved.
Hopefully I can add more inlut as I get more experienced with my bike.
Thanks Stevenc150, I'll give the NGK a try!

BTW the exhaust pipe on the front cyl was cool to touch, other than the loopy sound that is how I knew.

Cheers
