Hi

I just recently bought an xb12 muffler to replace the busted one on my xb9, I know this sounds stupid but it was a good price and available quick.

I was wondering if anyone has done this before. I know the xb12 muffler has a valve that the xb9 does'nt, but do I need to weld it open and lock the valve closed?

I've been informed that if I lock it open I will lose torque in the mid rpm range but don't know what the effects of locking it closed are.

I just need some advice on what would be the best thing to do?

Thanks everyone

I would think that fixing the valve to stay open would be more like the XB9 muffler than fixing it to stay closed. That's just my opinion since the 9 doesn't have the valve. Maybe someone who's seen the internals of both will post up.
