My friend has a 2008 XB12R with 2000 miles on it. we went out for a ride to day and got about 5 miles out and his bike just stoped working. we got it back to the house, changed the plugs still no go. we started looking at the fuses and the fuel pump one was blown. put another 10 amp in there blow that one. put a 15 amp in didn't blow. still won't start though. we took the fuel line off and turned the bike on. nothing came out of the fuel pump. anyone have any thoughts on why the 10 amp keeps blowing? thanks for the help.

maybe the pump motor is bad I would assume since you pulled the fuel line and nothing came out should be under warranty take iyt in

Well it sounds like you might have some wiring that is bad. Try tracing the wire from the fuel pump and see if you got any chaffed wires but it sounds like you should be under warranty though

put another 10 amp in there blow that one. put a 15 amp in didn't blow.

CAREFUL putting thicker fuses in there cause it can force far worse damage to your electrical. Like every one says, Sounds like you have a short.

But if the bike only has 2000 miles, it should be under warranty [confused]

we put the bigger fuse in just to see what the pump did. as for the warrenty he bought the bike used and there is go warrenty so he is out of luck. we will be tracking down some wires and see what happens, we have a service manual.

another update... pluged in the trouble shooting plug and it came up with exhaust servo and fuel pump. are these usually connected???

Hey Kenney, used or not that bike comes with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. Call the dealer, have them check the VIN Number. They'll tell you if it's still under warranty or not. Good luck, Wayne

So I had the same problem with mine. It turned out to be the inner wiring on the fuel pump body. I took out the fuel pump and the wires on the pump body had rubbed raw on the dog ears they ran against. The vibration from the bike worn them raw. I was able to drop out fuel pump, which is much easier than described, thanks to some great advice on here...and repair them myself. Costs 0$ to fix. Hope that's just the case. Sounds like it. Sadly it's a very common occurance.
