I havent been riding my 04 XB much since I got a CR a year ago. I fire it up and let it run until it gets hot on aregular basis while in storage. Ive been riding it this last week and its running pretty bad. It has loss of power. I cant even wheelie. It used to come up easy by whacking the throttle and I have to down shift to pass. Its missing at a constant RPM and this seems to have gotten worse over the week. I dont notice it on acceleration or idle. I had Seafoam in the fuel while stored. I also ran a bottle through it yesterday over the course of a few hundred miles. No change. I cant find the tune pro I downloaded. Is it still free? I'm going to put some plugs in it and see if that helps. Whats the method for testing the coils? I cant remember because I havent done that since I had my 1979 RD400. Help is appreciated. BTW I did check the electrical connections and they all were tight, good ground.

plugs first, I had an 03 and it was bad for trashing plugs. they even looked fine upon inspection. rear cylinder was bad for it. and my present xb (05) sat for bout a year and the gas left in it even tho I drained it killed two sets of plugs at first. im sayin that is your prob

Method for testing coils

Ohm testing the ignition coil(s) envolves disconnection of related wiring, so not to affect the readings. Most ignition coils will test between 1.3 to 3 ohms on the primary(small wire side) and secondary(sparkplug wire ports)side of the coil will read between 10.4K to 15.6K ohms.

it's a combination of all that is mentioned above including stale fuel....and fouled plugs. NGK DCPR9EIX is the way to go when replacing plugs. and take it for a decent ride generating heat in the motor.
