Hi guys,

I thought you would be interested in a new front brake caliper which has been fitted to my 2006 XB12Scg for testing purposes.

This is a 6 pot, 6 padded caliper made from solid billet aluminum, finished polished anodised black and is the first in the world!

It has been manufactured by my machine engineers who make several components for my lighting company & who also make brake parts for other makes of bikes.

I've been lucky to have this fitted as a direct replacement for the stock caliper with a saving in weight/size and added performance with progressive braking to test it out prior to main production. Its looks are sleek and can be supplied in polished aluminum to.

I'm sure you lads will be interested to see it and I'll post testing updates here with details of where you can get them from, on compltion of my road testing.

First off, I want the second one they make.

What would the pricing be about(black and/or polished)? Would the polished one be clear powdercoated or just polished? Where would I get replacement pads?

Oh and did I say I want the next one.

I think the price may be approx £350.00 but this one was supplied for me, free of charge.

They are manufactured here in the UK and will find out about the polished protection. I'm sure they are polished, then anodised which gives it a hard coating as mine was, but anodised black.

It should be noted that they had to fit a new 'Hell' brake line as the stock Buell did not fit, probably because we are metric here in the UK. I'll check that detail as well.

The pads are standard fitment (I'll get the part number and post here) and they are "Quick Release" which makes these callipers unique to.:)
 
WOW I was thinking a bit lower than that for the price.

Converted to American Dollars that runs $522.00.

I could do an entire Wave Rotor, 08 Caliper and Rear hidden Brembo for that price and have superior performance.

Thinking the price will have to fall drastically to be marketable.
 
At the moment, the price is around the £325 mark which I know is a bit steep so I'll work on the manufacturer to see if the price can be dropped some more.:(
 
I know the limited production and sales will raise the price but to be managable for most it will need to drop.

The 6 pod caliper is a great option, but it is USELESS of you do not have a better disk, the buell disk is for sure not the correct option.

We have researched the option to increase the braking and found it better to rather replace the disk [see pictures new- and used disk on my bike]

The performance of the disk is phenomenal with extraordinary results

Heat retention is limited, but just enough to ensure necessary heat for positive braking’ you can actually touch the disk without burning blisters after some serious braking on a track- day and with less brakepad wear-and-tear, there is definitely NO hot-spots as on the standard buell disk

Pads on my bike [Rear - Ferodo Platinum, Front - Ferodo HH rated] lasted for 8500km and the disk is still 100%

Disk is available on request for below USD 500 for both

Again like said above for that I woul just convert the front to an 08 setup and a hidden Brembo in the rear both with wave rotors.

Rotor looks killer but at that price I am thinking it will just not happen.
 
Wishful thinking Extreme, unless you have the hookups somewhere you will not obtain all you have mentioned for $500.

I have Braking wave rotors front and rear and after all of the new mounting bolts and other necessary bits it totaled out to around $500.

The ZTL2 conversion kit runs about $380 and the dose not include the brake line.

The Brembo rear brake mod totaled out to around $180 for me, but I did also put a Brembo MC on the bike.

My 2005 ZX636 front radial MC swap cost about $50 (best bang for the buck by far)

This is a interesting option for our bikes, but I do agree that for what it is it is expensive. A 8 pot version would be nice also [up]
 
Gotta love eBay. It would be easy to find the parts and get them for a lower price.

I agree if you were to buy all new it would run through the roof, but being so new even used would be like new. There would be no getting around the bolts and rotors but the rest would be pretty easy to obtain. I guess it does help when you have connections, I tend to forget I know a lot of people who know the right people, so getting deals isn't that hard to come by for myself.

I would love to get this setup plus the billet caliper but for the moderate use my bike sees on the street, no track time, it would just not be worth it to do either setup. IMO the stock setup does have room for improvement but is a very high quality stock setup.

Not a fan of the smooth look of this caliper. I would be more interested if it were more mechanical looking similar to the R1 caliper pictured below, but ideally in a 8 pot configuration.
