As some of you know I set out to alter my Firebolt a bit and did so to what I wanted quite well. I got the Ss swing arm done tonight and can't wait to post so here is what I have so far and I will take a couple day shots tomorrow.

I was going to put on my newly powder coated primary but due to some oxygen bubbles in the upper inspection cover some splatter got on it so they have to redo that piece so it will get put on during the week. Then even more pics.

Enjoy, and please feel free to tell me how you think it looks good or bad I would like to know what all feel on this project.

I do have to design a new rear shock extension since the one I made had to be altered to avoid it from flipping under pressure. So that will get done but other wise the whole setup is pretty much done.

Not to bad if you compare what I was originally going for to what I finished with.

Not my cup-o-tea. But to each his own, if your satisfied thas all that matters. I do think its very unique, I wonder how it will effect the performance and handling.

that thing circled is a bracket to fit a stock R shock, and give it the height I wanted.

An Ss shock would lift my bike like 4", no thanks.

As far as saftey the bracket it made of solid aluminum that is 4x thicker than the stock lower shock bracket. I do however plan to make a different one that has a cleaner design.

It is a direct bolt up with all stock parts, BUT you need custom oil lines and a custom shock bracket if you dont want to use a Ss shock.

This is what my bracket looks like right now, I know it is pretty sorry but my initial design was to long and since I could go to the shop this weekend I had to make due. Note this is high grade aluminum made to make aircraft parts so it is pretty much the best you can get.

My new design will be a much cleaner and be one piece to gain strength and add to make it easier to mount.

looks good xtreme, are you using a piece of 6061 bar stock for the rear link? you can tell how far the back would be raised up with the pic of the rear!! have you thought about machining down the bar stock then running plates from the shock location to the rear bolts on the swing arm, will fix the link flipping over.

Not sure what you are talking about with your design. Shock location versus rear bolts? What is what?

Please explain, it may be better than the design I am going after. In short my design will look like a block styled "Y".

there are two set screws on the "bottom" that are attached to the swing arm, and one bolt attached to the bottom of the shock. if you fab up a bracket that will bolt up to those specific bolts. that way the bar stock will not be able to flip backwards or forwards.

You did an awesome job... from idea to execution. Quickest project turnaround I have ever seen!

Only thing I'm not liking is the shorty pipe, just not much for the gap it throws out... between the tire and exhaust...

Other than that, very cool!
