So I took the cover off today and got most of it torn apart (harder than the manual or posts here had me expecting). No doubt the stator is burned up. I'm not sure if I've seen other stators posted that had the epoxy worn clear through all the way to expose the copper wire.

I saw your post, unfortunately it came up after I had already purchased the EBR rotor. I likely would have gone that route since I could have then gotten it done in one weekend as opposed to having to wait for Rick's to ship the rebuild after I ship them my core.
