Hey guys,

Did some searching and came to the conclusion that most people are rocking the 2ct tires from michellin. I am however still confused about which model to go with. I live in Florida and don't really live on the hwy with the bike. I'm also not a daredevil stunt rider. With these things in mind please recommend me the all around best model for everyday use. Thanks!!

I was under the impression that there was only one type of Pilot Power 2ct. There is a regular Pilot Power that does not have the dual compound and then there's the 2ct Pilot Power. Here's the lineup.

I hope u are right cuz it would make things easier lol. In th what tires do you have thread right below mine it seems as if there are several kinds of 2ct tires? Pure, road, etc.

I'm gonna google it

Just got back from jakewilson. Seems there are more than one. There is a road 2ct and a power 2ct. Guess people are going with the powers??

unless your going to get agressive in the turns a sport touring will work great for you.

Which one u recommend dood?

Also I'm out of town and can't look at the bike. What are the stock tire sizes pls?

pilot road 2 would be fine if you dont get agressive in the turns.front is 120/70ZR 17 rear is 180/55ZR 17

Looking the website the Road 2 does use the 2ct dual compound technology. The distribution of the compound is different than to Pilot Power 2ct. Depends on the type of driver you do? More commuting go for the Roads, more aggressive go for the Powers.

I wudnt say I'm a commuter since I'm not riding it to work everyday. I'm also not a canyon carving pro like a lot of u guys on here. Do you still recommend the road 2ct? Will one last longer than the other?

Thanks for the sizes anrkizm!

I have the road 2ct's, and I get fairly aggressive in the turns. Unless you are doing track days and have a fairly liberal tire budget I'd say go with the road 2ct's. The power 2ct have better grip but also a significantly reduced life span, and the grip on the road 2ct's is already awesome.

Here is a post I made about my road 2ct's the day I got them on my bike. Once these do finally wear out I have no doubt I'll be replacing them with the same thing.

You need tires already?? You had a couple K on it when you bought it right? You should go with a dual compound even if you don't think you are advanced enough to be flicking the twisties. Sooner or later you will be so be ready.
This guys sells/mounts Michelin tires for the track days at Homestead. You can get them mounted there at the track. December 4th/5th is the last race of the CCS season and I plan on going down, maybe even checking out tires that day. Not sure how good the prices would be but they would be "fresh" tires.

I went with the dual compound Power 2cts.

When i brought the bike to petersons last week for them fix the leaky seal on the inspection cover I asked them to check my it felt squirrely on the highway. When i picked it up they told me the front tire was scalped and the rear tire was getting low on tread and would need to be replaced soon. I bought the bike at 2400 miles and currently have 3400 miles. Gonna get a good gauge and check pressure more regularly, petersons said this is prob why they got scalped in the first place.

They quoted me $565 for 2 new pirellis mounted and balanced lolololol. I got the 2CTs for $212 shipped from Jakewilson.com just now. So i can just ride down there and have them mounted/balanced Boss? Know how much it costs? Anywhere else you would recommend, dont wanna wait til then lol.

I had a tire mounted at Palmetto motorsports. I took my wheel and a tire I ordered somewhere else and it was ~$25 I think to mount and balance. Not sure what they would charge for the whole job. Give em a call.

The number for the guy down in Homestead (who will be there in December) is 321.267.4787 Frank. I plan on calling them tomorrow to get the skinny.

kool keep me in the loop, in the mean time ill check around also. Tires get in monday the 29th (due to the holiday) so I gotta week to figure it out.

Isn't the pp2ct the same compound as the roads in the middle, just softer compound on the sides?

I know I've mentioned it before, but I switched from pp2ct's to the Bridgestone BT017 tripple compound. They're cheaper and a better multi purpose tire.

Pure power aggressive ridding/track days
Piliot power good in between
Piliot road highway long comutes longest lasting
They all give good feed back and grip.
If you don't ride hard you will like the life span of the road 2's.
My buddy has a set on a z1000 and really likes them.
I ride my bike like I stole it so I run pure powers last about 5-6k and there all used up.
Don't buy non 2 compound tires .
From your statements I would say roads will suit your needs best

unless you get to the bitter edge of your tires you likely wont even get into the second compound of a power 2ct. its only about in inch wide on either side of the tire.

all the other dual compound tires mentioned have a much wider segment of softer compound at the edges

I have found for my riding the power and the power 2ct are nearly identical, I get down to about 1/16-1/8" of unused tire at the edge of my tires and with the standard power I never lost edge grip. but if you are getting over far enough that your contact patch starts to shrink (rolling past the edge) the dual compound will be a life saver.

the power pure is a little harder in the center than a power but not nearly as hard as a road or road 2

I found with the road 2 that they grip great when they are new but feel like they get progressively harder as time goes on, after about 7k they were starting to give up grip despite still having over half tread left. but they still remained the best wet tire I have ever used.

I only have about 2k on my power pure's to I cant really comment on them as much yet other than how much I like them, sticky like the power but better wear. and MUCH better wet, but not as good as the road 2.
