EBlaauw a member who has one post from back in May posted this. He ran the belt didn't do a chain conversion.
Hi All ,

New to this Board .....
I have done a 240 Conversion on my 12S with it's existing swing-arm ...

Things to take note : Get yourself a SCG Rear Shock in the meantime. From 180 to 240 is a +- 30 Milimeter hight diffrence... Your rake is twitchy with a standard shock. A SCG sorts that out.
Use Metzler 240/40/18 ....As the other tyres are to high ...
Don't touch the Oil side, as a 240 will fit.
I have welded a 23mm spacer in on the Belt side.
I have 5 mm clearances in my swing arm. Done about 12 000 Kilometers on the conversion.
I have posted photo's on Buell's downunder

His bike, before he swapped out the susp:

No one else on here is currently running a 240 on their bike, that I am aware.

This guy ran stock suspension.

@misternikko- a 240 is the largest tire that can fit in the stock swing arm.

Those are really mean and slick looking, but, isn't the cornering ability going to be compromised just a little? That's why i came back to Buell was for the handling that my BMW did not really have. I guess not everyone is into twisties. [smirk]

Yes you start to lose cornering after about a 200. i have had this conversation before. I believe this to be true.

Thanks for the info. My bike will be complete soon with the 240. I'm gonna try the stock suspension first to see how it works out for me.

need more than just a chain to make that work, you also need to widen your rim otherwise it will pop right off

I believe he already has his wheel widen just has the to complete the chain conversion. He posted up sone where he had the wheel and tire.

man look at the size of those chicken strips

The first guy lives in Africa somewhere, and the second guy is from NY.

??? both tires look new? The first one doesnt look to have any miles and the second doesnt have any wear but has dust?

Sure they will have some big strips sooner or later though[smirk]

you can run a chain so no offset is needed for the swap. Or if you want a belt you need to space out the peg, modify the swing arm, and space the pulley 23mm.

I thought the 200 was the biggest you can have with out making changes?

It is, did you read any of it?

You HAVE too widen your rim, you have to either do a chain conversion or space out the belt which requires either an adaptor or custom front sprocket, AND widen the swingarm and move the rider peg and brake.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that in the list of mods done on the first bike it was never mentioned that the rim was widened.
