So I started taken the tail section apart. Going to get the seat rails/ tail light holder powder coated black. Goin back out to the garage now. From what I can tell all I have to do is disconnect the grounds. My ? Is are the seat rails and under section like a Jenja puzzle. U know kind of holding each other together?? I'll b checking my phone but I guess I'll find out soon enough.
 
I did the same thing a few months ago and can tell you that the underwear is being held up by the side rails and ground wires. Once you remove them you'll have to prop up the underseat or else remove a ton of wiring. Also something I learned the hard way: when you get the side rails powder coated you MUST clear the area around the bolt holes where the ground wires go. If you don't your battery will drain in a few days (happened to me). Good luck and I can also tell you the side rails look great powder coated!
