I will be doing a xb12sx to a xb12scg suspention swap and wondering about how to get both bikes off the ground to remove forks and triple tree and rear shock any ideas on this would help greatly!

Have access to a garage ceiling? I have some hooks in the ceiling and just lifted the whole bike up with ratchet straps. Do you still have the stock exhaust? You can always put a jack under the exhaust and just pick the whole bike up that way.

I bought a motorcycle jack from cyclegear, took off the exhaust, jack the bike up using the exhaust mounts, strapped the bike down to the jack, then removed the front caliper, the wheel, the top triple, and then removed the forks.

I will be doing both bikes in lower level of house one in the tv room and one in the garage so i could use the 2x10 floor joist. still wonder about size of strap, I would hate to have one brake.I would like to use 4 straps on each bike.I have a bunch of 1 inch straps. thank you for any and all input on this swap.

pardon for qestions.
redrider, what for do you plan to swap triple trees? are sx & scg forks of a different diameter?
as an idea for front end works why don't you use a jack under exhaust (if it is original it is allowed to lift motorcycle under exhaust pipe) & swingarm lift. using both of these you will secure bike from falling.

I've seen posted here a front stand that lifts right under the stem on the triples, letting you remove the wheel and forks. I used an engine hoist and a pair of one inch ratchet straps to pick the front up right under the neck. Decent straps are rated for a couple hundred pounds each, so 2 per bike is more than enough as long as you don't let them lay against anything sharp.

Another idea is to build a box with outriggers. Make it high enough to hold the front wheel off the ground and strap the handlebars to the outriggers. Add a block on each side of the muffler to keep it from sliding around.

Yes i am swapping out the triple trees also so i cant use a front stand and the scg is so low to the ground a jack will not work unless i remove muffler!
