It was a great day for riding, high 70s and low 80s today. Now the dumb reminder: Becareful of the painted lines and gravel in corners! I started riding after work and hit a nice corner (which is few and far between where I live now) at about 65 and the rear tire kicked out a little as I passed over the intersection lines. I didn't even think about it until it happened because it never (knock on wood) happened before there.





But I didn't go down thank god!! Continued the ride and took a few pics

Thanks Jobe, where I live is right on the water. There is a river that goes right by the city so I live to ride around there all the time. There are about 2 or 3 dams in the area. I stopped at an overlook at one and took these pics. iPhone quality but still good.
 
i did about the same thing today getting on the highway on-ramp , still some sand on the ramps, slipped a little then the tire got on the concrete seperator line , was able to keep under control, and rest of the ride to work was good.
Oh and to add , as spring hits in most places the warm air and storms or whatever brings lots high strong winds with it, so watch out for the cross-winds everwhere especially on flat striaghts with open fields and the intersections in town where the wind can blow between the buildings and build up very fast winds strongly !!
 
I does lower the seat a little, not much maybe 1". With my boots on I can flat foot now. I went with the textile lower seat because 1) new it cost less 2) there have been times with the firebolt tail that I would slide back on the seat WOT and the low seat had more of a cradle. There is a good bit more paddin gon the seat compared to the firebolt.
 
I bought it all new from the dealer, except for the under tray and battery tray. The battery tray was on back order indefinitely. I will probably be chopping the tail but I wanted to ride and couldn't wait for it.
 
I believe it is a touring windshield. It was on there when I bought the bike and I love it especially when windy or cold becasue I can tuck in underneat it
 
It hasn't gotten hot enough outside to really test it, but the fan has yet to come on after riding, so I believe the bike runs cooler with the lightning tail IMO
 
not a dumb reminder at Kyle, for those of us who have to deal with seasonal riding its common sense to pay attention to road conditions moreso this time of year then our average summer day of riding.

Where I am they don't use salt but sand the hell outa everything and everywhere, the size of the aggregate they use is large too, its also a very arrid climate so we don't get much rain and it seems like vehicles clear the sand off over time [down]

everyone who is just starting their riding seasons, keep your head up and eyes open.
Our fav sections of twisties may have hidden suprises.

no matter where you live you need to keep your wits about you. just yesterday i dealt with mudslides, gravel and a 6in river run off. oh and not to mention the boulders not rocks and im in northern california
 
i was riding in SE Minnesota in the valleys and there was a spot mid corner where a big rock had fallen into the road. Good thing i was paying attention or that could of been bad. I pulled over and moved it just as another biker was riding by. Fucker was on a harley and not paying attention and almost hit me. Lucky i just moved that rock or he would of been sliding on the pavement.
