You know it's the politicians and lawmakers that have put us in the financial state we are in. Yet every time some one has to bend over and "take one for the team" it it's never them. How can our nations leadership justify the continued pay of those responsible for our nations financial ruin, yet put those who barely make enough to live comfortably on hold. I'm sorry i forgot if they don't make that car payment they lose their Mercedes
and god forbid they can't pay their lawn service. It would make me sick to think a poor politician wouldn't make the mortgage on his mansion. OHHH AND THE TRAVESTY his kids won't get pushed through the best schools in the nation!!!!

Really. . .

Typical rich get richer poor get poorer

You know, I think I would be weighing if I would go in or not. I work to live. I don't live to work. If I'm not getting paid I really really really don't want to work.

Anrkizm95,
and then not tax the people above the (We Fool You) pedistol.........[mad]

So how many people on here is this whole furlough affecting? I am a contractor to the Department of Energy, and if the Federal staff that we support are furloughed, so are we. It states in our contract that if the Federal staff is not at work, we are not allowed to be either. My fiance works here too, so not only will I be losing pay, but so will my other half, and that is a big pay cut, just for a week. luckily we have savings, but still.

well the last time the gov- was shut down in 95 nobody missed a paycheck or as far as I have seen???? is this just $hi+ stirring going on????

Ill be outta work! And yes, last time in 95 this happened everyone was paid, but that was due to the budjet signed, with an add-on stateing that emplyees get back pay. But as of right now, there is no such provision being bounced around. So we may end up with some unpayed leave.

The one in 95 lasted 21 days, so Lets hope that this time it doesnt take as long. Im already looking dor some side work!

Nuage - Nothing is official yet. I am trying to stop this viscious spread of rumors. The only reports have been news reports. Look to your COC for information. Until we hear it from them, its not happening.

I have heard that NMCRS is preparing for it though and there will be quick assist loans available.

But either way, it will only be a delay in pay, not a period without pay. This is where your 1-3 months of emergancy savings should come into play....

i'm aware that it's a delay in pay. my point is who gets the delay and who doesn't. i'm sure if you added up all of the pay they will receive on time it would equal the amount not going to the soldiers. and you know it's not always easy to save up the 1-3 months of pay. shit happens. i for one spent over $12000 in legal expenses in one year alone over the course of three i've spent close to 30grand and counting. I would of loved for that to stay in the savings account but it was worth it to me to spend it fighting for custody of my daughter. I wouldn't say I'm financially incompetent, or irresponsible because i had a stint where money was tight due to the circumstances at hand. our pay sucks for the level of work we do. you won't convince me otherwise. I posted this to let any service members who aren't tracking know whats happening. i posted no rumors, both articles stated that it was pending or possibilities not cold hard fact. but for only part of our govt system say hey its everyone's job to take the hit and turn down their pay, then the rest say fuk that and hide their reasoning behind a 61million dollar discrepancy, which is only part of trillions of dollars of problems. . . that's just wrong.

Congress and the President will continue to get paid due to the way the Constitution is written. Not saying I agree with it, but that should be a fight to be had AFTER all budget gets sorted out. Not to mention, I'm sure that the Planned Parenthood/Abortion and the Greenhouse Gas Regulation crap can wait a week. Both parties need to put their differences on hold for a week, call it a truce, get the budget signed, and then they can do what they do best again - nothing. Until 2 weeks from now when it will happen all over again...
