So I am working on some ideas for a custom shorty tail section for my X1. I have several ideas and a couple would require relocating the oil tank. Then it dawned on me.... SWINGARM! Has anyone done this swap? The swing arm pivot brackets appear to be bolted on the frame. Maybe machine different brackets? Maybe its easier? Your thoughts?

***I tried searching the site for info... is it me or is the search function useless?

Hmmm... I am thinking this is impossible now. More than just the pivot point to contend with. Length, shock etc.

***Can I change the topic title to "Anyone ideas on relocated the oil tank on an X1?

I want to say it has been done. Do your search through google, much easier and user friendly than the search function at the top of the page.
Not an X1 but I found this.

if your looking for a full swingarm for a xb i have one for sale. please let me know if your interested.

i was originally going to do this mod to my X1... bought the swingarm and everything but then decided that i did not want to modify my frame in any way (need to weld a top rear shock mount in place) so i am just doing the XB wheel swap and keeping my factory swingarm.

Nice.. thanks guys. I hear ya Pur. More work than I want to take on right now. The only reason I considered it was to get rid of my oil tank. Think I will just design a tail that will accommodate the OE oil tank. My other crazy idea was to modify the fuel tank to hide an oil reservoir under the tank cover. Less fuel tho. Now I am thinking about making a tail section that is a direct bolt on replacement for the big chunky aluminum one. That way if it turns out nice and people wanted one we could make more and they would be easy to install. I might be the only one that likes what I am doing tho. Picture your seat hanging off the frame with no sub-frame at all. Thats kinda what I am going for. Super minimal.
