Is my vibration excessive?

Bike is a 2000 M2 with Force intake and exhaust. I have not had it very long and am wondering if this is normal? When it is first started with the choke open, it has enough vibration to roll the bike backwards on the kickstand! And today, I went to shift and the foot peg part of the shifter had fallen off....I can only assume from the vibration.

So...is this the norm? And what can I do about it?

Thanks!

If you haven't much buell experience i have some advice for you. Not saying your making the misstake of rideing with the RPMs too low but if you do the bike will tend to lighten itself as you ride it. Your M2 with milder cams is not acting up like a X1 does at low revs so its not as easy to see the problem. My X1 is not happy below 2300 RPM and will start to lighten itself if someone rides it below that range.

go over your bolts and make sure none of them have loosened, odds are if someone had taken one off and not used loctite it's gonna vibrate out, I lost most of my chin fairing bolts that way lol

Your vibrations sound normal. My 98 S3 likes to walk down my driveway. I've lost my left foot peg once too. I learn real quick Loctite is a tubers best friend. It's nothing compared to my fathers 78 Shovelhead everytime he rides it something falls off and usually hits me.

I would first start by looking at your rear and front isolators. These are known to brake and wear out over time creating bad vibs. How many miles are on your bike?
The latest redesigned front isolator was the last project that Buell worked on before HD shut them down, so its new as of 2010. I just installed one on my bike along with new rears. Mine were in good shape, but since the bike was apart anyways, i installed the latest and greatest. Also, as others have said... Loctite is a tubers best friend...

Thanks for all the replys...I really appreciate it. The bike only has 11k on it. I found that the front exhaust mount was broken....ordered a new one and am hoping that was enough to cause all the havoc!

If your front exhaust mount was broke I would check the bolts on your front jug that hold your headers in. Mine sheared off a year or so back when I had a similar issue with my front exhaust mount.

I hit the 10,000 mile mark and it seemed something was loose our and fallen off on every ride. Took one weekend and locited and re-torqued every nut.....5000 miles later everything is fine.

I have a 2000 M2 also, and sitting at idle she shakes and shimmys.Thats why you dont sit around at idle, you crack the throttle and ride.
