Anyone put a XB Lightning head light assembly on a X1? If they have how did they go about getting the parts. Thanks Guys!

I am in the process of making that swap. My local HD dealership had the headlamp assy in stock for $116.00.

Headlamp assy is Y0721.6AC

From what I have read there is a way to bolt them up with factory brackets but it requires using xb triple clamps. I am making my own brackets and dash because I am not going to use a windscreen. There are a few different threads about this if you search for them.

one of our local buell riders has done this...

There is a local guy here in Minneapolis that has a CR headlight on his X1. Looks pretty sick :)

I just drilled 3 holes and tapped them 1/4-20 in my stock upper and one in my stock lower and bolted the XB housing on. Thing is, i needed to grind 2 relief holes in the back where the housing hit the upper triple where the pinch bolts go. I just used a die grinder to make an elonged slot. Between the triple and housing I used a couple spacers.

Then you have to find out what you are going to do for gages- I used my factory ones and made my own housing. Then i hacked off all the stock on the housing and welded a couple aluminum tabs on to bolt my homemade dash on.

The hole in the lower triple was for a piece of flat aluminum i bend at an angle which bolts to the underside of the headlight itself. All worked great and looked factory.

I have since swapped to XB triples and forks.

I like the look...Has anyone used a clear single light on there bike? I'm looking at that option. Less work and a cool look..
