2001 Buell X1 Lightning won't start

Hey guys

looking for a bit of help! Went to start up my buell, 2001 x1, & it started for about 10 seconds, backfired and cut out. Since then i havent been able to get it started again. I have gotten a couple of back fires but nothing more. I have checked the following:
Power - engine is turning over - battery has been fully charged & wasted again trying to start it - current back on charge
Sparks - the plugs are definitely sparking
Fuel - plugs do appear wet, & i can smell the petrol when it is turing over
Compression - definitely there as well as suction at the intake

The bike had been giving a bit of trouble before hand - wasn't running smooth & spluttering a bit. started as a small sputter catching at approx 3000rpm - but got worse & now nothing! :-(

any help would be appreciated!

I also recently got an ecmspy cable - but not 100% on how to use it yet - though i have reset the tps and afv but that didn't make any difference

I would suggest starting with bypassing the kick stand and clutch switch. Just connect the two wires. They are known for failing.

Ok, battery fully charged

I've checked the ignition switch but it seems fine, same with the side stand switch - haven't jumpered them but the bike does seem to respond correctly when the side stand is up or down

I've plugged the bike into ecmspy and done a TPS reset and avf & done a diagnostic - the main diagnosics don't give me any errors (that i know of - i haven't seen anything to say their may be a malfunction) & the only trouble code is that the o2 sensor is lean

The Bike does turn over when i press the starter button - though it never seems to "catch" - i get the occasional 1/2 bangs but then nothing - i have pulled out the sparks and they are sparking when i hit the start button & there is definitely fuel getting to the engine - smell and wet plugs

There are no CEL lights & the standard start up seems normal

What loose1 said... try bypassing your kick stand switch.
