Fuel pump installation question..

I just finished removing and fixing some chaffed wires on the fuel pump from my 06XB12R. I'm almost ready to pressurize the system but I see the manual calls for an HD fuel pressure gauge to bleed the system. Does anyone know if you can bleed it without the gauge or if that's completely necessary? I can wait to order the tool but of course would love to hear her fire up, she's been down since November..

yea just turn the key to on a few times or just hit the kill switch an few times till the pump primes it self.
