So I want to buy a trailer here soon and really don't want to break the bank. All the trailers in my budget have these little ass tires. This trailer is more for towing my bike long distances around 500mi back home where I'm from on vacation. What is everyone's thoughts on a small 5x8 utility trailer with them small 4.80x12 tires? I hate to be on the highway in a 70mph zone getting passed by semis. Lol all input appreciated.

as long as it is within the weight capacity and loaded correctly you should be fine.

I don't have a smaller trailer yet and really looking into enclosed.
But my neighbor has a trailer with the wide short turf style tires i have used a few time it pulls great

The tires on these are not wide though. They remind me of like a moped tire. I would be way below weight. I'm just not a person to drive like a granny on the highway. I mean I'm not going to do like 80/90 mph but is like to get close to the speed limit. The trailer I'm looking at you can see at lowes.com. I also looked at enclosed trailers but the thing would get used like a couple times a year, AND my wife would kill me. Lol

You should be fine. A lot of it depends on the rating of the tires and axle. If you are buying new, and it gives you a weight rating with no speed restriction, you should be good. Just make sure that you get the weight right in the trailer and get the appropriate drop hitch so it tows flat.

I bolted a wheel chock on a 5x10 utility trailer & welded on strap eyelets then put down some fresh 2x12 flooring. All this with 15" car wheels though. Holds more weight. so they do make them with big wheels for open road.

Well I have seen tires that had a speed rating and these tires don't have that on them. So with that said as cheap as the spare 4.80x12 tires are with rims I might just buy that trailer and get two spares for it. It's just them little tires almost look scary. Lol. But I'll be about 800lbs under axle rating and the tires are rated at 785lbs, so I'd be way under weight with just my bike on it. Biggest thing here is I just don't want to purchase something that will mainly be used for my bike and not be able to use. I appreciate all the info here

I have been looking into the same folding trailer from harbor freight,it looks as though it will work great for what I need.
