It also seems like people without a helmet are inviting to get harassed by the cops. There are plenty of little things to get pulled over for. Then as your pulled over they will make sure you are 21 and have the extra insurance. On a positive note maybe they will be less likely to bother those of us with a helmet.

Here in illinois you just have to wear eye protection. Regardless i never ride without a helmet, i think that this would be a great law to have in every state, where you have to wait until you are at least 21 to make the decision.

This is great news!!! I will try the helmetless thing this weekend and see what happens. I doubt police will be as up to date on the laws... which won't be fun.

you may want to check into that insurance thing before you do macbuell. im not exactly sure how that is supposed to work.

just found this "The new law allows motorcyclists to ride without a helmet if they have a $20,000 medical policy, have had the cycle endorsement for at least two years, or completed a motorcycle safety course."

Definitely, I wouldnt try it unless I knew I was legal. Already have a call into my insurance agent. I am on my 4th year with cycle endorsement.

Riding around town- 30MPH Max speed Helmet optional

Spirited riding anything over 30- I will still wear my full face helmet.
