Hey everybody im new to the buell community. So ive got a 04 xb12s lightning with k&n air filter and d&d exhaust with arounnd
22, 000 miles on it. I've owned the bike for about 6 months now was not purchased off previous owner. So as of a couple of weeks ago the bike had trouble starting. Went ahead and did new plugs and plug wires and pcv valves. still had issue so i got the the ecmspy wire and did a tps reset. Ive also checked all grounds and battery terminals. The issue still remains hesitation on start up and while riding at cruising speed during mid range rpms the bike spits hesitates falles on its face rpms drop and check engine light comes on ive also noticed that the fan does not come on whike bike is running. If anyone can help or offer input i would be greatfull. Thank you.

There weren't any active codes just a history of active exhaust valve . But it's had the exhaust for a while and this problem just started. I thinking more along the lines of head temp sensor , intake air temp sensor, bank angle sensor, crank angle sensor.

Cel is only on when RPMs drop and bike stalls not with its running. Kind of like when u first turn the bike run switch on and the cel is on for 30 secs during prime

When the bike stalls out the light isnt indicating anything. Thats normal.
Any other consistent pattern with it acting up?

I knew the cel during that period was not indicating anything just using it as reference to the bike actually shutting off just had to explain that to some. No other patterns that I could thinks of other than I just took the bike out a bit ago and no issue at all

When it does it at idle I can give it throttle to keep from stalling . But while IM riding the bike at cruising speed mid RPMs there's nothing u can do

access your ecm unit and inspect it closely for cracks, hair-line cracks in the vicinity of where the harness plugs are, plugs for tightness. if all ok sure sounds like faulty TPS assembly

Check the grounds under the headlight cover and around the steering stem. The wires are run tightly in there, and known to break.

Engine Temp Sensor is worth a look at and replacing.

Had similar issues but no Check Light nor Fault Code history. According to AL at ASB, this is a common occurrence with this particular situ failure. Even had the fan coming on and off at irregular/fluctuating temp readings via ECMSPY monitoring. Took Al's (from ASB) long experiential advice and went ahead did the pain in the ass deed of R&Ring the sensor.

All my issues were instantly solved. Found the wire was frayed and had two tiny openings which most likely were grounding out and causing the issue. After installing the new ETS, I encased the wire in a continuous conduit protector to the D-Fitting on the left side below the Main Ground. Hopefully this will remedy/protect the bare wire from any future rubbing and potential fraying.

The Rig runs like new and no more bogging/stalling etc at low and mid range rpms. Even gained some top end power as I did a full up run down my local back road to work yesterday morning and had her just under 150mph at around 7k.
