FS: 2009 Buell Lightning XB12Scg Triple Black - 4263 miles - Seattle, WA

Hey guys, I am getting more into my cars lately and figured I should sell my Lightning. It's a shame that it just sits in my garage most of the time. Someone should be out enjoying it! I am not sure how much I should be charging so I'm just kinda feeling this out at the moment.

ODO reads 4,263 at the moment and is unlikely to go up for the time being. I just came back from a 2000+ mile motorcycle trip down the west coast and the bike performed flawlessly. The stock tires are still great. The battery is brand new from Harley Davidson. Cranks and charges just dandy. Always dealer serviced.

When I bought the bike, it had these mods:

- Drummer exhaust
- Shift lever of unknown origin (look like CRG replicas)
- Clutch and brake lever of unknown origin
- Headlight cage
- Buell service manual

I did the following myself:

- CRG Lane Split mirrors (I installed these upside down for aesthetic reason, a more reasonable person may want to flip them around to get more function out of them. Haha!)
- TechSpec tank grips
- Rizoma tail light + fender eliminator
- Rizoma Zero 11 signals on all corners
- removed Buell logos from tank, removed Lightning logo from flyscreen
- Heated grip kit (never installed, would include with sale)
- Hand guard / wind deflector kit with adaptor hardware for use with the CRG mirrors. (never installed, would include with sale)

The bike has never been dropped --- by me. And here is where it gets odd and why I am not sure where to price this. Story goes like this:

I found the bike on Craigslist in Minnesota. The guy owned a bike dealership there and this was his personal bike. Got detailed photos --- some scratches on the swing arm, a ding here and there, but nothing major. Bought the bike, had it shipped to me here in Seattle. Went to register it and found out that the title is "branded". The brands on the title are as listed:

MN 20100824Salvage - Damaged
CA 20100428 Salvage - Damaged
CA 20090720 Salvage - Damaged
WA 20110502 Not Actual
CA 20090612 Not Actual

Needless to say, I was surprised. The seller had not mentioned any of this. I had considered calling him back and saying, "WTF?" But ended up deciding not to pursue that. The bike works just fine, is low miles, and insurance doesn't even ask about the title. So whatever. The damage on the bike I documented very well in all the photos, hopefully you can see.

So I guess that's a long way of saying it has a salvage title. I can tell you that aside from a few nicks here and there, the bike is still every bit as badass. I contemplated trying to fix the little dings and scratches but decided that they give the bike character. Hahaha. Whenever I see it, especially with the headlight cage on there, it always feels like it's my ride through the zombie apocalypse. (Sawed off shotgun and all!) The triple black is indeed the best color combo, IMHO.

At any rate, enough idle chit chat. I see 2009 Scg's with similar mileage go for about $7500. Seeing as how this bike has the salvage title on it (and for what possible reason it was salvaged, I have no earthly idea why), I am thinking $7000 is reasonable. Bike is located in metropolitan Seattle.

Pics to come soon.

Seems people just don't have that kind of money to spend on a bike this old. Especially one with a title that looks like that. I personally, believe any item beind sold is worth as much as the seller believes it is worth, this being said with the assumption that the item is worth a lot to the seller. I'm not saying that item is worth whatever the seller wants it to be worth. I'm just saying that too the seller it is worth, what they are asking. My point is either you aren't getting offers because nobody wants to lowball you for your precious, or they all think you're crazy. Just my opinion. Then again I'm drunk, my buell just got wrecked a few hours ago by some asshole cager, and I'm desperate to be back on a Buell immediately.

Price is pretty high, and that is for a bike with those miles, and that year, with a clean title. Want a good idea what it is worth? Check the completed listings on ebay and see what similar bikes are actually selling for... not what people are setting their min bid at.

salvage title on anything essentially cuts the value in half i would say almost and then on a motorcycle most be wont take them if there free

There you go Butters! That is the right attitude and will get it sold quicker. Free bump

Yeah, I realize what kind of product I'm offering here. For me, I know it works just fine and when I was buying, it was difficult to find this exact combo in a Lightning. So I see it as worth what I'm asking. On the other hand, I know that it has a salvage title and that automatically lowers the value in the collective consciousness. And I totally get that; I wish the previous owner had told me it was salvage titled. So while I can't blame others for being weary of the bike and especially at my asking price --- I do want to say that I am being honest that the bike works flawlessly, performs amazingly, and looks the business. I freely admit I am setting the asking price a bit higher than it is realistically worth in the real world. But please feel free to shoot me an offer and I will consider them.

Thanks, guys.

I am still waiting to see what my insurance is going to do with my bike or what they are willing to pay me out for it. But if I have enough I am interested. I'm still checking out the cherry res ones though because the triple black is sick and all, but I've always been looking fot res or blue. If I decide on this one though, is there anyone in this forum local to willing to check out the bike for me since I'm in Long Beach, ca and won't be able to make the trip

Ok, guys. Been doing more research and looking at more listings. Adjusting asking price.

$5000. Title in hand. Ready to go to a new home.

Well, still looking for a red or blue. But haven't got answers back from the other sellers yet. Sending you a pm now

Is the title and registration up to date? Also, in one of the pictures of the damage on the swing arm. Are those scratches or cracks?

Look my ADD has kicked in, and I couldnt read far enough to see if it has sold, but if you do get tired of trying to sell it you can give it to me. Just pm me and I'll get back to you at my earliest convenience. Enjoy the comedy and have a great day :D I'm sure we could work something out on the shipping. O 5hit my smiley face had a stroke [smirk]
