Hello all, i just bought a 01 buell x1 lightning a few weeks ago...i have put 1000 miles on it and now it only has 2600 miles....and it drove fine one minute and i went to start it the next and it would start...i took a plug out and it was dry..what could this most likely be???fuel pump???it turns over fine and everything...thanks all

a working pump on ignition on is pretty loud and you can clearly hear that. this could suggest that your pump is working. it should make the zooming sound for about 4 second, if less it could indicate a problem with the pump. (a dealer can easily check if the pump is giving enough pressure)
but as i said, i could be several things.
electrical? it is possible that the injectors do not receive the pulse to open/inject the fuel. although both of them at the same time is pretty wierd, better check the wiring.
could just be an ecm malfunction which is not sending the pulse at all.
or it could be as simple a bad/dirty fuel.
carb advantages:
- better, faster, smoother throttle response
- no more ecm, sensors, fuelpump, etc = less electrical problems
- better reliability (especially in warmer weather)
- better fuel/milage ratio
- etc.
of all the guys i know with the "tubeframe"-buells there's only 1 still working with the injection (x1 millenium) and has his share of problems due to that.

could you give some more details on your bike setup?
price would depend on where you're from, but i'm guessing it is cheapest in the u.s.
there are kits for it like from mikuni, hsr, etc...
all what is needed is the correct settings, which is best done on a dyno, but once that is done you're in the clear for a loooooooooooooooong time.
note, mikuni with standard setting is about 80% correct.
