Hi all.
Its a 2007 XB12STT.

New aftermarket exhaust and airbox mod.

apart from that shes pretty standard.

6 months back I noticed a power drop while riding, like a pop and the bike would almost stall and keep running at constant throttle.
slowly the symptoms got worse until starting and idling was a nightmare and then finally it straight up stopped while riding home.

I'm wondering if the constant worsening of the problem is an indication to the problem.

I tried before she died.
TPS reset.
Intake seal test with brake cleaner, no change in revs.
New battery,
checked the earth,
looked over the wiring,
drank a few bottles of bourbon.

Now shes playing dead.
Drained and flushed tank.
Stripped out injectors, cleaned and tested. full 300ccs, no issues.
tps reset,1, 2, 3 hundreds of times... again, more bourbon.

Pros.
It turns over.
Has good spark, removed plugs, blackish but no buildup.
tested coil with plugs and sparked nice.
Re-gapped them and installed back.

with a little fuel down the throat, it fires and runs but dies fast.
With hand over the throat and really choking the bitch out it fires and runs if I can balance the air being drawn between my masculin goriller paws and playing with the throttle.

actually got it to run for about a min and up to 5k smooth.

dying for a drink right now but no bike to go to shop.. :disturbed:

Please impart your wisdom to me.
summer is a month away and I need a drink before then.

thanks.
Luke

Did you do any tuning or ecm swap with the new exhaust? I'm wondering if it might be a bad/damaged ecm.

Hey Luke AU. Have you tried putting the bourbon straight into the bike?:)

I agree your clues lead to lack of fuel, still possibly timing too. Do you have any diagnostic tools like ECMDroid? That could test and eliminate the sensors quickly.

I agree with the smart guys above that a fuel pressure/flow check would be prudent. Removal is easy and would let you check the fuel sock, and the wiring for chaffing.

Hang the rear of the bike by the seat rails,
remove the lower rear shock bolt,
tape up the swingarm so the FP flange doesn't scratch it
drain the tank with the 1/8" pipe plug (a funnel made from tin foil works well to keep things clean)
remove the 4 flange bolts and connector
with a little twist it should drop out and around the swingarm thats hanging down.
The o-rings may be swollen, so if you don't want to replace them, give them a day to dry out and shrink back to normal before trying to re-install.

You guys totally get me. The bourbon depends on how grumpy I am... Calmish Booker's, grumpy ASF beam, actually quite angry home brew moonshine.

Thanks for the great replys,

So no I didn't change the ECM or map when exhaust was swapped I just turned the exhaust valve error code off.

Low fuel pressure was my first thought to be honest.

The pump runs on key/ignition switch.

Pump sounds good but doesn't put out much fuel.

I'm going to buy a cheap pressure tester today and see what I'm getting.

I'll follow up soon.
Thanks.

Back to business. I get a good deal on a pressure gauge, $45nzd and it's showing a consistent 3psi or 20kpa.
I piss faster than that.
I'm guessing I have a poo pump.

Dose anyone know what the pump should be putting out at?

Luke.
