FIRST POST! front end impact damage question?

don't even think to ride a bike with such a damage. also check steering tube bearings. start from changing upper tripple tree. if everything is ok after that - you're done with it. btw - you're lucky!

    Clicking noise

little report on repair of this click noise - take off the bar unscrewing four bolts on top triple tree. - leave all the harness on the bar, no need to remove it. just put a bar on dash. - unscrew a bolt that holds the triple tree on its axle/big bolt with 3/8 hole on top. - torque this chrome...

    Free Spirits Trail kit

my buddy got this trail kit mounted on his firebolt. as a result - more stable ride on higher speed. we got this kit with alignment tool directly from Marcello (who is a superbly great person) at his FreeSpirits workhouse. I don't feel this kit is a big deal on "long" XB's, but for short frame...

    Clicking noise

2 Yan part two. I'm sure this issue is cowered by warranty. No way to deny this. I just can not let our HD dealer to fool around with my Buell, kind of trust myself a bit more :)

    Clicking noise

2 Yan - you're 100% correct about Black Sea shelf ) At Sochi (which is chosen for 2014 winter olympic games for some strange reason :) ) they have snow for a week or two during winter, but living in Moscow you're about to mess with early autumn & long wintertime. I've been thinkin about...

    Clicking noise

have the same issue & about to think that it is head bearings. I also know that they are adjustable, but not ready to do it now as soon as season is over here in Russia )) to adjust these (if not mistaken smbd correct me pls) you need to take top triple tree off the fork, taking off the bar...

STT - Things to look for?

my rule of thumb start a bike, zip your jacket, put helmet & gloves on & then ride. dressing up is enought time to warm up a bike.

STT - Things to look for?

what differs STT from Ss - single vs double seat - rear mudguards vs passenger pegs - front high fender vs stock one - front fork mudguards vs stock fender - pirelli scorpion sync tyres vs pirelli diabolo. - suspension travel (inches) - 5.63 front vs 4.72 front - 5.63 rear vs 4.97 rear -...

STT - Things to look for?

actually STT is more Ss than Uly, so this bearing issue is not a point. but of course it is better to check & change bearings (and spacer as soon this metal stick is the main troublemaker) with every tire change if hesitate even a little to avoid bigger troubles.

STT - Things to look for?

the only thing that differs STT from other xb series bikes is front brake line. check that it is not damaged by front wheel from the inside part of the fork. Buell had recall to reroute brake line but maybe previous owner skiped it. Otherwise STT is a great bike & a big fun to ride. also check...

Newbie with XB12S vs. XB12Ss Question

Ss is definately more fit for taller riders. I had S for two seasons, now have Stt, which is actually Ss frame with some styling details & even higher seat. what should I say - Ss is such a comfortable bike - you being rather tall will feel the difference.
  13. 9

Okay, so I got good news & I got bad news..

2 fishqutz I'm 6'7 & absolutely comfy with stock STT. when I ride with passenger & use Ss seat it gets slightly uncomfortable but when I put back a sTT seat - what a great bike for taller riders! 48 is also comfy cause it got enought room for long & skinny legs :) as soon as it got forwards...

Okay, so I got good news & I got bad news..

I'm definately happy to have Buell STT & hd sportster 48 in my garage. I can never compare those two, but anyway each gives me completely different feel. buell is my forever favourite bike! but when I had an opportunity to get a second one, hd was (even consudering all my negative feelings about...

    Adding oil

as soon as it is low :) while I used hd 20w50 oil (not screamin eagle) I was adding around 150 ml every 1200-1500 km, which I assume is normal. after I swithed to Motul synt 20w50 I have almost no oil consumption. Let's say oil level is in "normal" range for 3000 km already.

XT tail section on my XB12Ss?

why don't you just try Uly?

    wheel weights ?

2 okey i have a weight on a side opposite to rotor. don't even think there is any trouble about having it there. and as Mike Van V said earlier - if you don't feel any wheel vibration on higher than 70 mph speeds - forget about it. actually, motorcycle wheels are less sensitive to disbalance due...

    Track Ready SS

2 wavex - yep, you're right! I consider your way the only possible - to buy sport bike, maybe even slightly crashed & build a track bike out of it with mods exactly for racers needs (susprnsion, brakes, gear ratios, aim & so on). And even talking to racing fellows I understand that actually...

    Track Ready SS

my 2 cents Buell, particullary xb is a goodhandling bike, but not a track winner. you can be good in turns but never too good in competing XXI generation technologies in engines. it is not even made for races. Buell is maybe the best city bike, that's it. For track use it's about jap or...

Super stiff shifter from 1st to Neutral?

whats in your primary? after switching from hd original transfluid to synth 2050 oil gears seems to be shifting softer. have you tried to make cluth regulations? if not why not to do so. it might help if done correctly.
