    What to do?

I don't think you could find two very different bikes with similar displacements! The Buell is a raw, modern hotrod while the CBX is a refined older gentleman. The Buell is light and very compact at 395 lbs. and 52 inch wheelbase compared to the CBX at about 545 lbs and 59 inch wheelbase...

Any of you guys fly? I'm thinking about buying an ultralight

I've owned two of them, an RX Beaver on amphib Full Lotus floats and a Ridgerunner on straight aluminum floats. Great flying fun without all the regulations, at least in Canada. I would suggest that before you buy, you get some seat time in one to see if it's for you and line up an instructor...

Any last ideas before I dive into the world of custom tunes?

fuel map Here's the map which I use on both front and rear cylinders. Good luck, the effort will pay off! Tuning my XB transformed it from a farting, bucking annoying lump of ****e to the awesome Hot Rod it is. It idles now and pulls clean and hard from idle to red line and sounds awesome...

Any last ideas before I dive into the world of custom tunes?

my timing maps Here are my maps. I cannot remember which points i changed but I think they were all in the 800, 1000 and 1350 rpm's maybe 10 to 45 throttle pos. so you can see I didn't advance them much but it sure made it smoother. I'd be curious to see your timing maps before you change them.

Any last ideas before I dive into the world of custom tunes?

Search for my story How I Tuned My XB12 The Old Fashioned Way then look at the timing map. Mine was 0 degrees at idle and low rpm and throttle range which is too retarded. The bike smoothed out and started behaving when I advanced it in those areas a couple of degrees at a time.

    WTB XB12 Active Muffler Sub-harness

I need the harness that connects the muffler valve actuator to the main wiring harness. It looks like it would be about 2 feet long with a triangular 3 conductor connector on one end and a rectangular 4 conductor plug on the other end. It may have a ground wire coming off it as well. Thanks...

    Thinking about getting an XB12s...

The Buell XB is a motorcycle for motorcyclists! It's light, compact and powerful and sounds awesome and the belt drive and hydraulic lifters make life easy. They sip gas (I've seen 65 miles to the Imperial gallon) and they are easy on tires. Mine's been reliable as a hammer so far but I only...

How I tuned my XB12 the old fashioned way.

I love my ’07 XB12scg! It’s light and compact and has plenty of torque and power and it’s different--a real motorcycle. It has a comfortable riding position, fully adjustable suspension, slick transmission, handles ok, stops well, gets fantastic gas mileage and it’s easy on tires. It does...

    XB9s with just 120 miles

Replace the tires if you're going to ride it. Those 15 year old tires that are on it may look good and will be hard to toss but don't cheap out-your life depends on it! And the oil and brake fluid too...

    Embarrassing beginner question

To get a feel for how the bike accelerates, find a deserted stretch of straight road with good, clean pavement. You won't spin the rear wheel or wheelie if you're in second gear and roll the throttle on from about 20 miles an hour. Remember to keep the front wheel straight and leaning forward...

can't connect ECMspy while running (transmission timed out)

I had the same problem while using a bluetooth dongle-it would disconnect if I started the bike and would not connect with the bike running. I suspect your cable is the problem. I built my own cable following the instructions on ECMSPY website under "EcmSpy Cable for PC/Laptop". I bought the...

Think it's head gasket time? Need help!

I imagine most solvents are flammable but as the Buell Service Manual states: "Gasoline is EXTREMELY flammable and highly explosive, which could lead to death or serious injury." Taking care does not prevent accidents and why take risks that have possible dire consequences? Paint thinner...

Think it's head gasket time? Need help!

Never, EVER use gasoline as a solvent! It's highly flammable and explosive! VERY risky! An acquaintance of mine was burnt so badly with gasoline that he begged his wife to shoot him but she didn't have to, he died the next day and I knew another guy whose face and hands were badly disfigured...
