    Stator failure on AM commute

Well, it's been a minute, but I finally got a motorcycle lift in my shop and decided to rack the 1125CR. Didn't take more than about 2-3 minutes of perusal and I found the 3-wire connector from the regulator has burned the insulation off of at least 2 of the leads to the point where one of them...

    I bought a quickshifter...

I bought these quickshifters from RevMo and they’re dog ****. Who makes a legit QS that’s made of non-home lab produced 3D printed nylon?

    Stator failure on AM commute

The bike is a 2009 1125CR. I've not torn into it yet, but I will eventually. The bike has been running the Harley "fix" harness since I've owned it, I figured I'd deal with it one day, but have not had an excuse to until now.

    Stator failure on AM commute

It finally happened - a balmy 50*F morning ride and the battery indicator lights up and the voltage shows about 12.0V and dropping. Fortunately, was able to turn around and return to my garage to grab a different bike. So what's the best recourse? I've heard obtain a Rick's stator and perhaps...

    Steering head bearing install tool

Finally received the Motion Pro 08-0669 tool from Direct Cycle Parts out of Texas. No joke, both races went right in without freezing in about 20 minutes combined. Glad I went with the tool because I had to clean up the frame bores receiving the races due to my janky previous attempts with the...

    Steering head bearing install tool

In replacing my steering head bearings, I'm not having any luck with my threaded rod, make-shift tool that I've used previously. I've been using the tapered roller bearing setup with the race, not the sealed bearing as originally equipped. Even after freezing the races, I've not been able to...

    Munched front wheel

I figured it's a might as well. The rear wheel has new bearings, new sprocket and new belt, the front needs a new rotor (thickness is at minimum spec) and the steering head bearings are being replaced as well. EUSSR? Care to elaborate on that Dieter? :)

    Munched front wheel

The dealership parts department (Tucson HD) was extremely helpful and must like Buells or something. They pricematched the eBay price of $300 and will have a new wheel for me in a few days. Where to source new brake rotors and mounting hardware? EBR used to sell kits, but not sure where to...

    Munched front wheel

Villain black, I believe. The local dealer can get them, but the prices aren’t great… seeing if they can do any better, but beggars can’t be choosers either, so I’ll probably walk out of here having paid around $450 for a new wheel. The alternative would be a new one from eBay for $300 + shipping.

    Munched front wheel

Looks like there's some new wheels floating around the dealer system still, planning to stop by the dealer and inquire about pricing. I see new ones on eBay for around $300, so a used one at $250 probably not worth it.

    Munched front wheel

I did contact the city via their online reporting system and they claim to have repaired the road, but I’ve not been back out that way to check!

    Munched front wheel

I think I can confirm that the wheel is toast. If not immediately discernible by the massive lip damage... then a closer look reveals:

    It's definitely bad, you know!

    Munched front wheel

I'm surprised it wasn't worse. I'll post some pics of the wheel when I get a chance, it's bad. I mean, you know it's bad when the tire deflates instantly! The tire was/is a Michelin Pilot Road 2CT, so definitely not a bad tire.

    Munched front wheel

I'll see if the wheel can be repaired... thanks for the links.

    Munched front wheel

Well, I took my beloved XB12Ss out for a ride after replacing the rear wheel bearings, rear sprocket and installing a new belt. Rounding a corner I came across a large pothole, avoided it, but ended up running over a chunk of asphalt from the very same hole. The impact damaged the wheel lip on...

    Belt loss and sprocket options

I managed to get it on there using the method that Barrett described. I loosened the axle exactly 21 turns out and then pushed the tensioner up against the belt while rotating the mounting bracket into position and it finally slipped into place. It does seem a bit tight, but suspect it would...

    Belt loss and sprocket options

I’ve only got the rear axle turned out 15 revolutions, so maybe that is part of the issue. The belt is extremely tight, though.

    Belt loss and sprocket options

I still don't have everything fully assembled, but it's only because the belt is super tight and I'm struggling with installing the tensioner. I watched a couple of Youtube videos this morning and plan to remove the belt from the rear sprocket, install the tensioner and then start the belt back...
