    speedometer fault

Check your multi-pin connection at the speedometer. If it was a bad speed sensor, it should set a DTC and illuminate the MIL. It sounds like a poor connection between the ECU and the speedometer assembly, which are few. If not, it's most likely a faulty speedo unit.

    Buell Extended warranty and service

How much peace of mind do you want and what are your mechanical / technical abilities? If you are going to do all your maintenance and repair(s), you may want to save the money. Even then, if you're out of town on it and have a problem it could be a good thing or if it is a major repair that...

    Engine Light after starting

No. I have seen this happen on dozens of Buells, as well as other brands. The ECU momentarily misses an input signal and triggers the MIL. You did the right thing; turn it off, wait a few seconds, and go again. If it is recurring, check for DTCs.

New Owner. How do you take corners On these???

Midlife - The article can be found on the Buell website. Buell.com > News & Events > Buell in the news > third article down. Check out my rear tire and tell me Buells won't corner. This is a Dunlop D208 from track day. Several rice rockets have gone down trying to hang in the corners...

    Throttle Position Sensor Reset $60???

The TPS is most of your "tune up". The ECU has to know exactly where the throtlle is for it to send out the proper commands. You can do it yourself as often as you like if you buy the VDSTS software. You can purchase the standard version for $195 for a single application. It's not that...

New Owner. How do you take corners On these???

The Buell XB outperforms pretty much anything in the corner. It does help to know how to ride though.

    suggestions?

Put your Jardine on, leave the stock air filter in, ride to the dealership, install the race ECU and air filter in the parking lot, and have the shop reset the TPS. Ride out a happy camper and be safe!

    suggestions?

I would not install the ECU and expect to ride it to the dealership unless it is within pushing distance. The new ECU has no idea where the actual throttle position is until you reset the TPS. The bike will run, but not very well without the reset. Schedule with the dealer and install it in...

    suggestions?

jgxb9r - "i still dont know what the other one does" -- The Techlusion, Power Commander, Vance & Hines, or any other aftermarket recalibration kit simply modifies the existing fuel and/or ignition signal for better performance. The Direct Link allows modifications to the existing ECU as many...

    direct link remapping tool

The Direct Link software is an excellent tool to remap your stock ECU IF you know what you're doing OR have access to a modified fuel map for your configuration of exhaust system and intake. I use one map for track days / racing and another for the street. Pretty convenient tool.

    suggestions?

The Buell race ECU is real good, as is the Direct Link software to remap your existing ECU. If you're simply looking for easy bolt-on horsepower and torque improvements, buy the Buell ECU and K&N air filter to complement your Jardine pipe. Use a good quality premium fuel to minimize...

    Service Intervals?

Changing both cavities at the same time is a good idea. Check primary chain at oil change and adjust as necessary. Clutch - same thing. Spark plugs? As needed, although I replace mine at 5,000 mile intervals. I have not had a plug failure, but they are too cheap to overlook.

    oil brands and weights

Royal Purple CycleMax 20W50 works very well in all cavities.

    What Type of Oil

"Both holes" or "all cavities" means the engine oil and transmission - primary oil. You have an XB9, right? Engine oil change is drained from the swingarm oil tank and also filled there. The transmission-primary is drained on the bottom of the primary case and filled with the clutch...

    What Type of Oil

Wow is right! My life is simple. I use automotive oil in my autos and motorcycle oil in motorcycles. Syn-3 is good for all cavities, as well as Royal Purple Cycle Max - 20W50. Best advice is to pick one and stay with it. Changing from synthetic to mineral and back or brand to brand is not...

    2003 Buell Firebolt

tbramich - That's not true for all wreck damage involving a frame. I work in the industry and know of several bikes that have had damage to the frame and it was replaced as part of the repair. One such bike happened to be a 2005 XB9R that was high-sided at 300 miles. The frame received...

    A little concerned.

Hey Seizer - you did right by filling the filter before putting it on. 80%-85% of all engine wear occurs at start up due to oil starvation - don't prolong it by installing a dry filter. Your oil pressure light should come on with key on - engine off. You should do a bulb check each time you...
