    SX electrical draw

How long did you measure 1.5A for? There may be a circuit inside the cluster or ecm that stays "on" for a set amount of time and then idles down to less than 1.5A. It for sure is high! I would think 500mA is still high for a bike that is off.

How to: Rotate your engine 2009 Buell XB 12 Scg : With Pics!

That's probably the most thorough walk-through I've seen. Good job! I just did a rotation on my 1125 yesterday - I think it was easier than this...not that this is hard.

    DIY auxiliary displays and datalogging

Transients are not a problem with those buck dc-dc converters. If anything you can always add two small caps (one input, one output) and call it a day. They are cheap enough to where you can by a few and power whatever you need.

    DIY auxiliary displays and datalogging

You can probably find smaller dc-dc buck converters for cheaper and in smaller packaging than the one you listed. The arduino isn't going to take much power. Check on ebay, searching for "DC buck converter" Good luck!

    Tire Poll

I've had BT023, S20s, and PP2ct's... All felt great overall. The S20 (I think it's been replaced by the S21 now) was nice and cheap, everyone pretty much knows about the Pilot Powers. I'd rate the 023s lowest.

    07 XB12R Rear Wheel replacement

OEM...any aftermarket you can find would probably be ridiculously priced.

    Lower belt guard?

I much like the stock one that I cut the "inside" out of (earlier style guard) I'm sure you can do something similar with the newer one too. You didn't specify what year bike.

09 intermittent charging issue - VR or stator

It could be a bad or corroded connection somewhere, including a bad/loose ground. At the same time, it could be VR, possibly overheating and then subsequently cooling - I doubt it'd be the stator itself.

    ISO Left foot peg

    No, no drop on those.
