    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

I purchased the 3 relays from HD when I picked up the battery I started to put them in and thought I better check a few things off the list before I repeated the damage to those, if in fact damage has been done. . I pulled the tail apart yesterday and all the wiring was whole. No visible damage...

    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

It's all good. I actually did compare them for size/dimensions, I just didn't look at the pos/neg. I think I'm going to spend some time on it this weekend, hopefully uninterrupted. I've got two little ones so it's been tough to grab more than a few minutes at a time to focus on it. All the...

    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

I didn't come on here to blame anyone, nor have I. I take responsibility for not looking at the terminals. Stupid mistake on my part. But your comment was very precise so I was convinced "this is the one I want!" It's not like you said "I'm providing a link to a battery that isn't the one you...

    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

Went to HD and bought a factory battery. Got my dash back and fan stopped running. Flipped the switch and the fuel pump primed. Hit the ignition. Snap and nothing. Lost dash again. ****ing over it. One of the mechanics at this HD location was their buell guy. Someone gave him my number and he...

    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

Welp turns out I had reversed the cables, but not because I put them on the wrong sides....technically. Reason being, the Harley battery has positive on the (for purposes of orientation, if I'm riding the mororcycle)right side of the bike and the negative on the left side of the bike. The deka...

    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

Thanks on the diode. I'll verify that direction but I'm confident that didn't change. As for the relay, I have a new relay from Harley. I did rotate it on the old batter but did not on the new battery. When I puked the relays one by one on the new battery, the fan did stop and the other...

    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

so I got the battery. Put it on the bike and the fan kicked on and ran without stopping. I had no lights, no dash. I pulled the relays one by one and it didn't change anything, fan still ran, no dash. Wouldn't crank or turn. Grounds all seem good. Same fuses not getting power. Diode has been in...

    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

I guess what's confusing me is the 'bad' fuses or fuses not showing conductivity through the tester. Would a battery that's not performing properly cause this? Is that a system 'fail safe' for lack of better term?

I'll give it a shot and report back. Thanks.

    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

It may be a crap battery. Got it from batteries plus. The HD battery I pulled out was 220 cranking amps, this one is 200. Harley store(went there to buy a new relay) said that shouldn't really matter, but I'm concerned it may have caused some issues here along with a loose ground. Side rail...

    Electrical issue? Possibly? 2004 XB12s

Put a new battery in, made a mistake and had a poor ground connection. Cranked it, turned over twice, then popped and smelled smoke. Didn't see smoke, just smelled it. Tightened ground and now I can't get it to turn over or crank. I bought new fuses, and a new relay to check. Some fuses are...

Yah I'm not sure how long Photobucket will last for that price tag. I'm located in Sherman, TX. About an hour north of Dallas.

Looks like the photos are no longer showing up through Photobucket. Anyone recommend the best way to upload pictures to the site from an iPhone? Haven't been on in years and the site has changed a little since I was on last. This bike is going up for sale so I'll be referencing this thread in...
