I have a 2004 XB12R original engine 20,000 miles. I recently have been noticing a problem where when I wail on it in first, when it gets to about 6k rpms, it cuts off and will either engine brake hard, or surge forward then die off then surge then die off. It sounds like it's seizing almost? I'm wondering where this problem could be stemming from, and I'm not sure if it's coincidence or correlation but I just got my oil line rebuilt and have only noticed it since then. I usually ride pretty conservatively but sometimes when I get on the on-ramps I like to rip on it, and this problem has almost caused me to crash a couple times.

Help or insight would be appreciated

but I just got my oil line rebuilt and have only noticed it since then.

absolutely no idea what a "rebuilt oil line" is but i'd start by checking all areas that coincide with work that was recently done and look for something amiss. chafed wire????

Ah sorry, I should definitely not post while that tired. What I mean is I had to get a new oil reservoir. But I didn't think that something like that would effect the engine. I'm not sure if it's the engine or some part of the wiring from the throttle.

Yes, that. I'm not very familiar with motorcycles sorry. I've only owned my Buell for a year now and I'm still learning the ropes. Mechanics were perplexed as well when I explained this problem to them. Guess I'll never know :/

Found a solution or you flirting with death every time you ride?
Sounds like a transmission issue. Especially if it only happens in first gear.
