[confused]so i bought an 05 xb12r last night and over the course of the 200 miles ive ridden it since then the clutch cable housing became soo loose that my clutch would hardly engauge. so i pulled over got a wrench and tightend up the barrel adjuster until the lever got tight(with a little play maybe a 1/16th of an inch) and hit the road. everything felt fine but by the time i got home (probly 20 shifts/ 40 miles) the cable/ housing had loosend up a to a good 1/4 inch of play so i tighend the barrel up again and proceeded to pump the clutch about 50 times with the bike off. and afterwards the cable/housing loosened up again. i took the clutch inspection cover off and check it out. no visible dammage everything seemed in order, the barrel and lock nut are good and tight but it seems to keep loosening up.

could my cable be at the end of its life and streaching/fraying
or could it be somthing else
like i said ive owned the bike all of 24 hours now and any suggestions would be appreciated

When mine wore out, it was up by the perch on the bars. With Clutch pulled in,
I could see it fraying at the handle. This is what your problems sounds like. Odd that
it finally wore out just as you bought it, but that could not have been planned.

If you need to replace your cable please be careful and follow the instructions on here.

I know this was a long time ago now but it turned out to be the throw bearing In the clutch. 100$ and a 12 pack or high life to my dads harley mechanic and problem solved
