Okay so a guy I work with wants to swap for a day. He wants me to take his 2006 GSXR 1000 for a ride and wants to ride my 1998 S3. The thing is i've never rode anything bigger than a old CBR 600. His bike is all set up for racing with all the go fast goodies. I'm afraid that if I ride it my Buell just won't be enough for me anymore. Should I do it or just let him take a short spin on my bike.[confused]

The answer is always no.
Don't worry about you not wanting to ride your bike again, worry about you not being able to ride your bike again. They just don't make Buells anymore, and accidents are called accidents for a reason. If your buddy wants to ride a Buell, there are a ton for sale on here.

Yes! It's kind of like if one had a fat girlfriend and she said it's OK to **** a super model. Sure you may forever be changed but if you get the chance you still go for it.

I swapped my buddy trucks for a day a couple years back and his was way faster than mine and handled much better but at the end of the day I was happy to have my baby back.

Riding yours versus his are compairing to different types of bikes. If it was me and I knew he was a good rider I would do the trade assuming you both have full coverage on your insurance in case anything were to happen. But in the end his bike might be faster but you will hate the lack of torque and overall feel of the bike.

IMO Jap bikes feel cheap ad I absolutely hate the lack of power straight off the line.

Do what you wantbif anything just swap each other for a quick ride...

I say do it. It will either give you more respect for the bike you have now, or make you get a newer Buell. Either way, Im sure you will enjoy getting off that GSXR.

My last 2 bikes were GSXRs. Neither compare to my XB12R that is for sure.

I just went through that last week. Rode the Triumph speed four my buddy just bought. I actually had the same bike a few years ago but pretty much forgot what it felt like. I was blown away at the fact that a naked 600 that was considered slow by 2003 standards made my 984 twin seem like a gs500. I'm not even talking about top end HP, that 600 inline 4 had just as much low end and midrange as my bike, and once I hit 6 rpm the front wheel didn't even want to stay planted on the ground. It's a little harder for me to compare directly because I have a 9sl with the lowered seat and suspension, so it's possible that my front end would start to feel light with a normal suspension and seat, but that thing sure as hell made my bike feel slow. I wanted to trade my xb9 for an xb12 the entire rest of the night, but by the next day I was happy with my bike again. I'm still gonna take any chance I can get to ride other people's bikes. I plan to buy a 2nd next fall and it'd be nice to have something to compare it by. I say go for it. Chances are his bike will actually feel like too much to you and you'll be happy to be back.

There is a lot of guys who have came over to buells from bikes such as your friends. They are two completly different animals. Yes it will be faster and stuff but your bike is a better street bike for every day real world riding his is more of a track toy and not that enjoyable on the street.

I have done it before and I'm always glad to be back on my bike,it's like:D:D:D:D:.!! I love my bike the power the way it handles and the way she looks!! I prefer MY BUELL over any dime a dozen bike any day:D!!Sure other bikes go fast in the long run but there is no substitue for V-TWIN POWER! He will want a buell! I let this guy ride my 05 12scg and I rode his 08 gsxr and he wanted to trade bikes after. You might convert another dime a dozen rider.

I rode a 2010 Yamaha R1 the other day while the Buell was getting a new tire. Although the R1 had a **** ton of power, rode extremely smooth, and was just a nice bike all around, I was happy to be back on my Lightning at the end of the day. The R1 doesn't come close to having the "Soul" that the Buell does...

I traded rides a few weeks ago with a friend who has a GSXR1000. I followed him around some tight turns. While the GSXR had loads of top end power I really missed the bottom end of my XB12. Also found the GSXR uncomfortable to ride compared to my Buell. All the trade reall did was re-enforce how much I love my Buell.

I rode my friends Busa last week. And though it was extremely fast, I wouldnt trade it for my Buell. The Busa is too big and bulky, doesnt corner well and at slow speeds doesnt want to turn. And the biggest thing of them all....it has no personality, unlike a Buell.

I say go for it...if it pulls you to the inline side, then you werent meant to ride a Buell anyway.

The Busa is too big and bulky
They are big huh? I'm not that tall, 5'7" and change, 175 so they are way too big for me. A Ninja 1200 or GSXR 1000 are the biggest I can do. The Aprilia RSv4, and Duc 1098 I've ridden recently fit pretty good but a Busa, too big for this kid.

I don't think too many other bikes have 'soul'
In my humble opinion it is the passion of the Buell rider coupled with what Buell means to each and every one of us that help give Buell motorcycles the 'soul' that they possess...

That's just like my other passion, Alfa Romeo's. People always ask why I don't drive BMW's? Very nice cars, with no soul!

I always thought the zx12 was a lot bigger than a busa. The busy might be bulky in general, but it's pretty low and compact for what it is. I'm only 5'8, but I remember 10 years ago when I used to browse more bike shops and sit on bikes the busa was one of the only ones I could actually get my feet on the ground well and feel comfortable.

my buell and busa have soul two completely different bikes.any one says a busa dosnt have soul has never found a nice smooth long road at the break of day and floated across it at 185 mph.
