The clutch basket assembly on the bike has "cush springs" in it that half of them have shrunken in size for a noise that I don't really like. Also the bike doesn't move. Never really has since I got it.
I am looking at replacing the whole clutch basket assembly, I've read that it is fairly easily interchangeable with the clutch basket assembly from a 2004-2011 sportster 883/1200. The post I got this information from was posted in 2011. The clutch basket assembly model is continued on till 2022.
I looked up the difference between the clutch basket assembly model for the 91-03 Sportster 883/1200 and the 04-2011 assemblies. Screenshot attached showing specs.
Also here's the link I'm getting most this information from
While I'm compiling all this information into my brain I'm trying to determine if I will have any unforseen problems with doing this swap. I'd like to use the older clutch basket assembly because it's substantially cheaper and I have very limited funding. Has anyone done this swap? Is the different amount of teeth on the basket assembly going to affect the starter???
The whole clutch basket assembly from the 91-03 sportster I can find on ebay with low miles, from a formally functional bike for about $150, shipped. As compared to the 04-2022 assembly which averages $232+....
Opinions towards this?
