Hi all,
My XB left me out on the side of the road today. She is a 2007 XB9R. Was wondering if anyone might know what happened:
Coming up to a stop light and the bike dies, I look down and see the oil pressure light on. I pull her off to the side of the road to check oil level. Oil level is fine, and looks acceptable. (Just a note: the oil has less than 500 miles, it is Mobil 1 Syn).
I turn the key back to 'on' and the low oil pressure light is gone. Strange. I ride down the block to take her home, and after a mile or two the light comes back on. Started loosing power so I immediately shut her down and pulled over. Finally I got her on to a flat bed and she's resting in the garage.
Recap
-Oil pressure light comes on
-Grinding/Strange noise when pumps prime (flipping key to ON)
-Bike would not stay running
-Ecmspy reports no error codes (or I am doing it wrong...)
I have read really bad things about this 'oil pump drive gear'- things like it taking other engine parts out when it does go. Does this sound like the symptoms of a bad oil pump?
Thoughts?
